Well, she took her time, but she came eventually. Emily Joy made her appearance 35 hours after the induction (?) phase began. She was reluctant to the end.

She has finally started nursing today. She wasn't interested earlier and was initially fed her mum's milk from a syringe, then a cup. (Not bad going, drinking from a cup at less than a day old, lol!)

DD has had a lot of pain from her pelvis and had to walk with crutches, but that too is improving, I'm thankful to say. God has also been gracious in giving DSiL the energy to be awake for two whole nights while waiting for Emily to arrive. He's looking a bit more tired today after two good nights sleep - and one stressful evening with his girls home!!

DD & DGD (is that it?) came home around teatime - it was stressful for them as the car battery had died, so they had to call us to collect them ... not quite the dreamed of homecoming :( At the moment she's trying to get Emily to feed so she can get to bed. Emily has not quite got the hang of it yet :( Ah, all's quiet again, so maybe it is working. :D No, just discovered Emily fell asleep instead of nursing :( Oh, well ...

Details: 9lbs 8 1/2 oz; 22 inches long; 15 days late.

Now I'm trying to upload some photos ... let's see if it worked ...

ooo...how cute! She looks like she is sitting up on her own in that one! My DD was 9. 15oz so I am partial to big babies! :) Enjoy Grandma!

oh Isabella she's beautiful

it really tugged at my heartstrings seeing the picture as we had to cup feed Nathan - he was premature and coudn't suck breathe and swallow at the same time

I ended up bottle feeding him as my milk never came in and he lost so much weight we both ended up back in hospital

One huge benefit of cup feeding is they learn to hold their heads up very early and are usually very alert. I used to love swaddling him up and watching him lap like a little kitten (that was his first nickname lol)

Anyway, enough of me, so glad everyone is home and doing well

Congratulations again to you all and give that sweet baby girl a kiss from her virtual aunty Catherine

Isabella, she's absolutely gorgeous!! Thank you for getting those photos up for us! I'll be praying for your DD, as she struggles to help little Emily with nursing. My 2 boys were soooo difficult, when they were first born. I had to fight to get them to nurse. Of course, once they got the hang of it, there was no problem! :P Hugs for you and that sweet little girl!

Isabella, thank you for sharing your photos! Emily Joy is absolutely beautiful! Glad everyone is doing reasonably well, and I'll continue to pray for your DD and DSIL to get enough sleep.

What a cutie and a beautiful name! Prayers for your DD to hang in there with the nursing! I know it is trying, but it will pay off! Make sure she has the best pump available!! It was three weeks before my second (premature) daughter would nurse, but I don't regret a minute of the cup/syringe feeding and pumping!!

TFS!! :)

Congratulations Grandma! What a lovely she is too! Tell your DD to hang in there with nursing... the first two weeks were the hardest for me! That little one will get it eventually :) Sounds like she is her own person already!

I'm so glad for you, and I know you'll enjoy her. She's a lovely little one. My GD is 8 mos and still in 0-3 month clothes. She's trying to walk and we can't find shoes with grip on the bottom in size 0! It looks so strange to see something that little on her feet. Enjoy every moment of Emily and I'll be praying for a good recovery for your DD and SIL!

She is so Precious Isabella! She was bigger than Rebekah. My oldest was 9lbs 7.25oz and 21 inches long. Your daughter was fortunate she was able to go 35 hours long and I pray she does recover quickly. One thing you will find...they get hungry quicker at that size too...we had to put Bekah on Baby cereal at 3 weeks old...the milk and formula was just not enough for her.

Thank you again for your love and prayers.

DD was so sensible overnight ... she decided that even although she doesn't want to feed Emily by bottle, it was important she got some food, so expressed loads of milk which Emily quickly gobbled, up then slept for four hours. :D

The midwife has been to see her this morning and spent a couple of hours with her getting them sorted out. Emily fed well and has slept again. Instructions were to wake her, feed her, and get some sleep herself. So that's what's happening now. I'm just about to go up to them.
