Hi ladies! I've been reading so much good info here that my eyes are about to cross. I am brand new to digital scrapbooking--literally, I just did my first digital layout last night! But I'm a tactile person--I want to feel my pages in my hands when I'm done. So what do y'all do with your layouts when you have them printed? Paste them into a regular scrapbook? I suppose I should mention I'm addicted to the 12x12 size.

Ideally I'd like to design my own layouts and have them printed and bound by a professional service. I've looked into half a dozen or so today, but they all require that I use their backgrounds. Does anyone know a place where you can get a hardbound 12x12 book using your own backgrounds/layouts?

Welcome to Scrap Girls Becca! Some of us use Viovio.com or sbtoshare.com. There are some topics about it. If you go to to the top and under search but printing or binding you will come up with a bunch of topics

Hi Becca and welcome to Scrap Girls.

You can print 8x8 at home and then mount them to 12x12 scrapbook papers and put them in albums. You can have 12x12 pages printed at a number of online services, like ScrapbooksToShare, and put them in your own albums. I believe Costco and Walmart will do 12x12s. There are also several online services that will print bound books without using their backgrounds, like Vivio, Snapfish, Kodak, Walgreens, etc.

Thanks ladies! There's a lot of info about printing, almost too much info (but isn't that the great/overwhelming thing about the web in general?). The discussions I've found aren't real clear on which services allow fully custom layouts (my work) and which only allow photo additions to proprietary layouts (their work). I visited Snapfish and Shutterfly and couldn't find a way to upload my full layouts (could only use their backgrounds). Heritage allows custom backgrounds, but seemed kinda pricey for a smallish book (only 21 pages). I'll keep on looking!

Shutterfly does have an option for digital scrapbookers.
You do not have to use their backgrounds.

Becca, if you go back to the Shutterfly site, there is an option under photobooks for "digital scrapbooks". Clicking there will show you how to upload your digi pages. They have a tutorial and templates for LO pages too, which are very helpful since you have to be careful not to put any elements too close to the edges when you're making pages for a book. Plus I think Shutterfly is offering a free 20-page photobook right now -- although probably in the 8x8" size. I'll look and see if I can find the coupon code for that. It would be a good way to try it out!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I finally found the option on Shutterfly--it's not very obvious on the page. But I'm very excited to have found it! So much to scrap, so little time.
