Would love your opinion on this one. Just doesn't grab me yet. Is it the color? Lack of something? Composition? Any suggestions?

LSL. perhaps you could reduce the size and/or rotate your background paper and add a patterned paper behind. That might give you the finished look you're going for.

What a cute layout! I like the colors and the elements that you've added. It's a great start. Personally, I would add another paper right above the green striped paper, running in a triangle from the top left corner down to the bottom not quite center. That doesn't make much sense, huh?
Here's a sketch of what I mean. I think adding another paper layer (probably pink or red to match the hearts) would ground the picture and journal papers.

I like Anna's idea. I was going to suggest a patterned paper as well. And, maybe some sort of embellishment peeking out from behind the the frame to add dimension and create a layered effect. Great pic of the kids!
p.s. Hey, aren't you suppose to be doing your taxes!

LOL! I said I'd rather be scrapping! My youngest is home sick and playing with the home PC. What kind of mom would I be to pitch her off just to do taxes?? (Got yours done yet??)
And Anna, thanks so much for the idea and little sketch! (Off to try something on that LO and ignore the TurboTax box on the table...)

I liked your first LO, but the addition of the red paper makes the redo just pop! Awesome.
