kenzirhea
Hello all - I finally ordered a new HP laptop. The one I'm using only has 1G RAM and 250G harddrive - it used to run my PSP X2 okay but it's been hanging up and pausing and taking forever to do anything on it for a LONG time. . .to the point that i don't scrapbook much b/c I"ve been waiting impatiently for a new computer - and this one doesn't have the ability to be upgraded. I tried to give it some relief by backing up onto an external harddrive and moving my files to it as well (which I really hated having to hook it up to scrapbook) but it didn't work and everything still moved S-L-O-W! So I ordered a new one - Yay! This is a 4G ram 500 G harddrive with vista 64 bit, comes w/ SP1. Will the increase in RAM fix my problem? I'm a little nervous about vista, as I've never used it, but. . .we'll see! Thanks everyone!
ritzbits
That will solve part of it... but your processor speed (like pentium duocore or whatever) will also make a big difference. oh...btw... I asked my Dh this question for you. he's a computer geek. Also - he answered with a minimum of 4G before I even told him what you were getting, so obviously that's the lowest you wanna go. I'm currently using AMD turion 64 x2 processor.
ritzbits
He asked what your video memory is... (I have no idea what that means, but he was curious if you knew).
bikeneday
I have a 6 mo. old HP running Vista 64 bit with 4GB. It has not given me any issues, I keep most of my supplies on EHD and thumb drives so that I can also use my desktop on occasion. I use PSE5 and am about to upgrade to PSE6. I love the portability of the laptop. It does have a 17 in. screen, so it is heavy and I wouldn't want to haul it everywhere, but I love the screen size for scrapping and doing photo work. April Showers
He asked what your video memory is... (I have no idea what that means, but he was curious if you knew). That is referring to the graphics or video card. The number (usually ranges 256, 512 or 1G) Most of the ones I've seen lately have 512.
kenzirhea
He asked what your video memory is... (I have no idea what that means, but he was curious if you knew). NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics with 2558MB total available memory is what comes with the new one. . .is this what he wants?!? haha I have no idea either! It's okay to laugh if I'm wrong, I'm clueless! The laptop I'm currently using is 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7200 Thanks for the help though! DDecker
What is the maximum Ram the computer can take? With a 64 bit OS you should have the ability to upgrade to more, hopefully 8G! I am also not sure PSPX2 will run on a 64 bit OS. Guess I should go check! LOL PSP should run much better now with that processor and Ram. OK it says it is certified for Vista Ultimate which is 64 bit so you should be all set!

I'm excited now - thanks for the info!
PBarnes
I find these threads very helpful since I'm getting closer to having the money to buy a laptop. Thanks for posting the question!
SandiC.
Great questions and it sounds like you'll be all set. I got a new LT a few months ago with similar configuration and have had a couple of minor, self correcting problems, but nothing more than I would expect from any computer. I use CS3 on mine without problems.
