In my last thread I mentioned not hearing from DH in a couple of weeks. I got an email from him this weekend! And he'll be gaining regular internet access again shortly. I'm thrilled with that. Everything else is doing good here. Health wise I'm fine, which is good.

You must be so relieved! Glad to hear that all is well and that your DH will be able to communicate more regularly soon.

I'm so glad you heard from your dh! I hope he has regular access soon. That will give you more peace of mind. The one thing that has kept me sane while dh prepared to leave is knowing that we'll have regular skype and email access.

I keep thinking about what it must have been like for the families of service members back in WWII and other wars when they didn't have the technology we have today. There is no way I could have done that!

I just went through a month without hearing from him, and it was very hard! We have done Skype and will be again. That is great.

I've heard the stories about families going 4 months without a letter, 8 months without a phone call, and months without paychecks because the system wasn't very good then. A neighbor of mine grew up like that. He was so worried about me finding out that DH was leaving. I let him know it was so much better now because of the technology. I had a taste without technology, and don't want to do it again!
