Problem With Vista And Pse 6

I am having a problem installing Styles Paper 5101. I managed to install Inked Edges when I first got my laptop and it shows up just fine but for the life of me I cannot remember what I did that made it work. I managed to get 5101 in my Styles folder but it does not show up in Effects in Editor. I did restart my computer. The instructions that came with it refers to "Photo Creations\layer styles. I found nothing like that. Mine went Program Files>Adobe>PSE 6>Presets>Styles. Am I missing something?

Iwas able to install Styles very easy in my other computer which runs XP and PSE 3.

I have one other problem and that is with fonts. In the fonts folder there is Ariel Black but it does not show up in the fonts menu in Editor for PSE 6. How do I get it in there?

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Installing styles in pSE 6 and 7 is a bit tricky. I went ahead and purchased Add-O-Matic to get mind installed in PSE 7 and it was the best $11 I've spent in quite some time. I highly recommend it and there are a lot of ladies that use it here.

Hope this helps!

Have you tried rebuilding your effects database? The database should be in this folder: ProgramData>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>6.0. You have to delete the database and then restart Elements. It can take a few minutes but then the style should show up in your list.

Hope this helps!

I bought Add-O-Matic last week, installed it on my desktop(Vista), and love it. It is so easy to use. I seem to be having problems getting it to work on my laptop(XP), but I'm going to keep trying. I emailed them and they said there was no reason I couldn't use it on two computers.

I got my layer styles installed in PSE 6, thank you!

I'm new to the MB, and was looking around at the topics. I found the PSE section, and I just want to tell you how awesome I think you all are. Being fairly new to all this, I had purchased layer styles and add-o-matic, but had set aside trying to install them, due to the fact that there are SO many things to learn. You all helped me see what the problem was, and thanks to you, they are ALL installed and working beautifully!

I would have NEVER figured it out without you! Thanks for taking the time to help others, I'll be SO glad when I feel like I can do the same! This whole MB is so much more than I ever expected. And it give me the inspiration and drive I need to keep learning something new everyday!

Yay, Cathy! I'm glad you got it to work!! We've all been new at one point, so don't ever hesitate to ask ANY questions that you have!

Thanks for the support Amy! It's amazing how much there is to learn, but it's so rewarding when I stick with it and figure something out. But there are some things I just don't think I could ever figure out, and this was one of them. There are just too many details for any book or tutorial to cover.

It's just very generous for the experienced Scrap Girls to mentor the newbies. I appreciate it so much.
