Ok, Running Girls....how's It Going?

I've renewed my commitment to drinking water and avoiding the sweets (which were never really a problem for me before). I'm gonna try to keep active 6 days a week and save scrapping for the evening instead of sitting in the chair much of the day playing with layers. I took BEFORE photos today. And I'm just about to go find a new 5K to run since DH will be away that weekend and I haven't come up with a sufficient plan to make it work for me. I'm pretty bummed about that.
So how's id going for the rest of you? Check in and let's encourage each other!

I did start all over on Weight Watchers today. With so many traveling weekends for swimming, I've been negligent. I have not gained weight, so I hope that means that when I lose my 10-15 pounds I'll be able to maintain!

Good for you for taking the before photo, I haven't done that yet, but need to. I have tried to get more water in as well, so I'm on the right track with that.
I'll be sure to check back in later this week and see how you are coming along and to report any updates.

Thanks for checking in on us, Debbie, and way to go for keeping motivated. It's great that you took that before photo. There is nothing like that for inspiration. In fact, I will post my before and where I am now for inspiration in this thread.
Heather, do you think maybe it's your shoes that are causing you the problem with your knees? It could be that your shoes don't have enough support and it's effecting your knees. I'm not an expert in this area at all, just had that thought as I was reading your post.
Kim - can't wait to see where you go with this!
Okay, here are my Day 1 photos, from last June before we starting doing Beachbody's P90 program:

Jan you look amazing! What great results! So glad it's paying off for you. I can't wait to see some results myself. It's very difficult for me with food as I have a dh who has the biggest sweet tooth, and he always has junk in the house. I'm working on my willpower! lol

WTG Kim. Sorry about the rain. We just managed to get a family Rec Center pass (yea for swimming this summer). So now I have NO excuse for not moving. Hope your weather picks up and you can get a walk/jog in soon.

I've found a cool way to calculate my runs and keep track on line of how I'm doing. Thought someone else might find it helpful. It's called MapMyRun. You can use the maps to map out calculate distance of your walk/run area and then log in and keep track of time and such. I'm a junkie for data like that to keep me motivated. I can see how many calories I'm burning (not nearly enough yet
Anyway, that's my newest fun. I'm gonna be playing with the girls this weekend (and DH too, I think!). Back to running next Monday when my 5K to Couch Potato is upping the ante a bit...more running less walking...WOO HOO!!
Keep up the good work ladies. We can look like Jan too!

DH and I did a walk/run thing on Thursday afternoon, when it warmed up a little. I wasn't able to hit it as hard as I have been, since I'm doing this restricted Six Day Slim Down thing. I weighed myself on the morning of the 4th day, and I had lost 4 pounds in those first 3 days! WOW! Today is the last day, so I'll be weighing myself tomorrow to see what the final count is. I'm pretty sure I've lost more. I'll let you know. If you'd like to see what I'm doing, visit our blog at fitclubtoday.com. I've been video-blogging my journey.
But anyway, since I'm not taking in a whole lot of carbs (this is high lean protein, low carb diet), I didn't have the energy to hit my run as hard. But that's okay. That's the day that I burned off 509 calories from exercise and had only eaten 530 calories so far that day! Eeek! lol
Anyway, we hope to get out and run again on Saturday. We'll see.
Oh, and did I tell you I got some running shoes? I got a pair of Under Armour that are like running on a cloud. Love them! And they're black with the symbols and other highlights in pink! So cute, too!

Those shoes sound so cute! And we all know that cute counts in every aspect of life...fitness included! I'm using new shoes as a bribe to keep going. If I complete my 3x/week walk/run for 4 weeks, I get new shoes (I really am needing them before the "big" 5K). Then the next 4 weeks I'm planning on getting a new workout top for running the race! That way I'm sure to be cute!

Debbie, the best thing you can do for yourself, since you're already doing cardio with the running, is to add strength-training to the mix. Nothing burns off that fat like muscle, and the more muscle you build on your body, the higher your metabolism runs. A person really doesn't have a complete fitness routine unless they are combining both cardio and strength-training.

I need to get a pedometer or something to measure my distance, because right now I'm just walking laps around the lake at our apartment complex. I think 1 lap = 1/4 mile, but I'm not sure.

A pedometer is a great idea, and they aren't very expensive either.
DH and I are heading out to Arizona on Friday to visit his parents for the week. We hope to run on our cardio days since the weather will be nice and we'll have no other time constraints. I can't wait to get somewhere warm for a while!!!
