YAY Day #1 done! :dancing-smilie: Left work early and decided to go ahead and get my running out of the way before I plop myself in front of the TV/computer for the rest of the night. I lasted a total of 25 minutes: 4 total minutes of jogging, 21 minutes of total walking. I could only make it through 4 reps of the jogging today, so I kept a brisk walking pace for the rest so I would still get a good workout in. But I know the jogging time will improve as the days and weeks go by.

I need to get a pedometer or something to measure my distance, because right now I'm just walking laps around the lake at our apartment complex. I think 1 lap = 1/4 mile, but I'm not sure.

Yippee for you Theresa! You should be so PROUD! The first step is sometimes the hardest to take. Now you've started!!! Let us know how it goes. I've never used a pedometer. I know people who absolutely love them. I think I might even have one somewhere.

Keep up the good work!
Debbie

Debbie, sounds like you are doing great! I've been fussing with sore ankles. Don't know if my Reeboks are letting me down, or if I just did too much out on the propery (grassy, hilly fields--not level walking).

Sorry about your ankles, Kim. I have a pair of running shoes that I got when we lived in Alaska. I was running trails then out on the tundra (ah, the good old days ;))...and watching for moose in the willows :o I digress. They are specifically for trail running, designed to give extra stability to the sole and the upper foot. Something like that might work for you. I got mine at REI and they had several different kinds available.

I'm getting ready to buy a new pair of running shoes. I've searched the internet, but I'm gonna head to an actually running store and have them help fit me. The shoes I have I really like, but, of course, they are almost 2 years old and no longer made (I don't even know what the style name is). I have a few foot issues (a neuroma on the left, high arches, and some numbness if I wear the "wrong" shoes), so a shoe that actually works for me is WONDERFUL! So I'm gonna take my well-loved shoes with me and see what they can do for me at the store. I hope their prices are OK. I'd feel very guilty having them fit me and then buying off the internet. That's just not nice. <<sigh>>

Hope you're ankles are on the mend.
Debbie

WooHoo! Did my run/walk, took 30 seconds off my pace since last week! Get this, my pace is down 5 minutes from my first run! I'm lovin' this. Oh, and I ran in the sprinkling rain today! It was GREAT! I used my Podrunner: Intervals today and had a lovely time letting my mind wander around. I think I might like this pacing for now. Who knew?

Here's my new little trick/fun thing I tried today. I've been having trouble remembering how many laps I've done around my loop (it's just through the neighborhood. I'm too busy trying to breathe to remember how many times I've been around -- LOL!). So since I run past my house each time I go around, I decided to flip the flag on the mailbox when I went past. That action helped me keep track in a much more concrete way. And it was fun!

Can't wait to hear from you all today! Jan, I'd love to go to AZ to run with you. When we lived there I ran in the early morning and it was gorgeous.

Have a great day.
Debbie

Oh, yeah...DH is too much. As I came past the house on one of my laps today, DH took my picture! Now I can scrap this! He's the best!

Debbie, great job reducing your pace time!! And your trick with the mailbox sounds like a smart idea. I need to find a way to track how many laps around our lake I take. Smart hubby for taking a pic...I can't wait to see your LO of this ;)

I went on MapMyRun and did my best to map the route around my lake to measure it (there are no roads around the lake, just a walking trail). It turns out that 1 lap = 0.39 miles, instead of the 0.25 miles that I thought! So I'm going a further distance than I estimated! Even better!

Well isn't that a nice surprise! You go girl!
