PBarnes
I'm going to be online a bit less for a couple of days because Vista is acting up on my computer. Luckily I can use DH's laptop - when he's not studying. I'm hoping my geek son can do something with it but it may be the weekend before he can come over. If he can't, then I'll have to turn to the Geek Squad. Grrrr.
Jo Corne
we will miss you Pat, we've just got Vista on our new computers... still getting to learn our way around it. Hope you get sorted asap so we can have you back
regulargal
We've been using Vista for a while now on our new laptop - I've been using it exclusively with PSPX2 to scrap and haven't had any problems. There are some quirky things but I think it's just because I'm so used to XP. Hopefully your problems aren't too serious and you get them fixed soon! Burnsie
Pat, I've just recently been having some blue screens on my Vista computer! And I found out it's partly due to Service Pack 1. However, I have no idea what to do about it! Good luck to you!
PBarnes
You know, I've had it on my computer since we got it - two years ago - and have had no problems. I have not put Service Pak 1 on because I have heard others have had problems. I have been wondering if the problem is because I HAVEN'T installed the service pak. Who knows. Haven't heard from my son yet. typed on my husband's laptop. Gotta get off now.
JenniferZ
Ugh, Pat -- how frustrating. But, this may be fodder for a scrapbook page, no?
anemone1983
I believe SP 2 release candidate is available for d/l...but you may not want to go that far! Perhaps SP 1 would fix your issue. I hope you've got everything you care about on the HD backed up! Nice that you have DH's PC as a fall back :-)
CRS
I hope you get it straightened out quickly!
mimes1
I hope you get it going quickly too! I got a blue screen on my 2 week old vista - I panicked and called my computer guy, but I haven't had it since. So luckily I've convinced myself not to worry about it. I hope yours works out easily. podiumchick
The only issue I have had is that sometimes it fails to launch and then wants me to do a restore. Shouldn't be happening on a new computer.
sandyscouter
We've been using Vista for a while now on our new laptop - I've been using it exclusively with PSPX2 to scrap and haven't had any problems. There are some quirky things but I think it's just because I'm so used to XP. Have you ever had any problems with Vista and your crop tool in PSP XI or X2? My crop tool won't select the areas I want to crop with either program since I got a computer with Vista. I have 8 G of ram but can't do any digital scrapbooking because I cannot crop any photos! The selection tool refuses to drag the corners to where I want it, even if I select "free form". It jumps to the top or the bottom of the picture. All of my other tools work just fine! I have a $20 gift certificate where I print my layouts that expires in 2 weeks so I want to do some layouts, but I don't want to use full pictures and erase the edges from every one of them... Any ideas?
sheilaj
no I am aslo a PSP X2 user and it works just fine on Vista (touching wood as I speak) in fact better and faster than it did on XP. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling PSP? Corel also have a support function on their website.
SandiC.
I've gotten blue screened a couple of times, but not anything that happens regularly. With as much as I use this and as many applications and internet surfing I do, I think that's ok. I do have SP 1 installed. just installed the new security updates too. PBarnes
I was glad to see this thread pop around again. My desktop is up and running now and getting restored from Carbonite. What my son ended up doing was partition the hard drive and reinstall Vista and added SP1. My old stuff is still on the computer in case there is anything that wasn't backed up by Carbonite, but as soon as I have everything I need, then we can clear off the old stuff. msannie
Pat...did your son ever say what was wrong? I had an experience last week where a particular software made the transform tool in my PSCS4 go crazy, but once that program was uninstalled, the transform tool behaved.....maybe there was a recently installed program causing a conflict with Vista. Vista has not been compatible with several programs that ran fine on XP, causing me no end of grief and expense. Well, I'm sure glad you're ok now. Thank goodness your son could be such a help.
