I'm expecting my laptop to arrive this week(YAY!) and I've heard so much about all the extra bells and whistles that come with Vista(my current computer is 6 years old so I have XP) and that people uninstall a lot of the stuff...my question is what exactly do you remove and why? Below are the features of my new one:
HP Pavilion dv7t Entertainment PC
- Espresso Black
- Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
- Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)
- 8GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
- 640GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (320GB x 2) with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
- 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650
- 17.3" diagonal HD+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1600 x 900)
- LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
- Webcam
- Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth
- No TV Tuner w/remote control
- HP Color Matching Keyboard
- 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
- Microsoft® Works 9.0
- HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
Any advice on new laptops will be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you've got it covered - I didn't uninstall anything, but I DO recommend you install CARBONITE - it's great!! I bought so many supplies and made so many pages within the first month that I was afraid of "losing" it all. I installed it on 12/31 and it took 40 days! to backup my 30G of stuff, so if you install it right off, you'll probably save some of that initial time.....enjoy your new toy!

Thanks for that advice! I have subscribed to Mozy because for now I have everything on 2 EHD's...it's still backing up! That will be another thing to figure out...switching computers on Mozy.
