OK, so I am five days overdue and am so tired of being pregnant!!!!!!!! I am extremely jealous of everyone who has had their babies on or before their due dates. This is baby number three and I was induced with the first two (early) just to have the babies out. This time I decided to try and let my body do it on its own without induction but it doesn't seem like my body wants to do it on its own. I went walking yesterday for hours and still no contractions. I was hoping for another walking day but the weather isn't nice. We have snow and wind again, yuck! I have another doctors appointment this afternoon and I am hoping I am at least dilated past a three so I know the walk did do something.

Anyway, I need some words of encouragement and/or ideas to get this labor process moving along.

I'm no help, I was one of those people you're envious of. I have some friends that just never went into labor on their own. Hope you get an induction date at your appointment today.

I don't guess people use castor oil and OJ any longer ;-) Wow, Obstetrics 1960s style - back when we used Drano to determine whether the baby would be a boy or girl, or a pendulum held over the expectant mother's wrist. Of course, these methods were not used in the doctor's office! I don't remember what the Drano "said" but my baby girl was 10 days late before my labor was induced. I won't even tell you how that was accomplished.

I just know how miserable you are and I hope it is over soon for you and you and your healthy baby are all comfy at home.

I was 11 days over due with my first! I went for a very long walk the day I went into labor. I feel for you! The baby will come when he or she is ready.

i was 9 days over with my first. They had scheduled an induction for the next day, but I finally went into labor. Being overdue is HARD! Mentally, physically, emotionally. I remember asking my doctor if there was anything that we could do to make me go into labor and he told us some pretty funny stories. He said that he had one patient who decided to jump on a trampoline to put herself into labor. she did it, but she also fell off the trampoline and broke her leg. She had to go through labor with her leg in traction. :D I decided to just wait it out. But, when she finally came, my baby girl was big and healthy, a good eater and she slept through the night at 3 weeks, so I can't complain. :D

Here's a hug and some cyber chocolate (it's guaranteed not to give you heartburn ;)). This too shall pass. Ro likes to remind us to think "in five years...." so just remember - in five years, you won't be pregnant (at least with this baby!), and all of this will be a distant memory.

Just like Anna, my youngest dd was 10 days overdue. Was going to be induced, but I went into labor and delivered in 45 minutes!!! And, she was a healthy 9 pounds, good eater, slept through the night! In fact, she was so hungry, we added cereal to her bottle within 2 weeks. Honestly, I think she would have eaten a steak if I had given it to her. ;)

So, Jen, hang in there! I know how you feel. (I tried a very bumpy truck ride over unpaved roads ... didn't help). I have a 2nd grandbaby due any day, so I'm anxiously awaiting a birth also (the easy way, though). :bighug:

That's gotta be the one of the longest waits we'll ever experience. My 2nd was a week late, after the doctor told me at 8 months to take it easy because she'd already dropped down - talk about a long 6 weeks! Some doctors need to keep their mouths shut!
Just wanted to send you some hugs, it won't be too much longer!

Hang in there Jen. I know exactly what you are feeling. I went three weeks overdue with my first (and I'm pretty darn sure I knew the conception date!) and ended up being induced. I was due at Thanksgiving, had quit work and then nothing happened. I had nothing planned to do so I started a quilt. :) I went two week overdue with #2 but did go into labor on my own that time. Those last few weeks are so hard, but it makes having the baby in your arms eventually all that more worth it. Big hugs.

I'm so sorry, Jen! I can't imagine how uncomfortable you must be. And excited, and anxious, and everything else. I'll keep you in my prayers for a quick, easy delivery and that you won't have to wait too much longer!

Poor thing! Being pregnant is so uncomfortable at the end, not even considering being overdue! I'll be praying that that little one makes an appearance soon, Jen. Be sure to give the new addition some cuddles from us, and you KNOW we're anxiously waiting for pics! :D Hugs!

Those last few weeks are bad enough, without being late! My first two were induced, but the last came on her own-a week late, of course and I thought she would never be ready. It's tough, but it will be over soon. Praying the dr gives you some good news.

Thanks so much. I am off to the doctors and if nothing is set up for induction, back to the track. There is a college near by with an indoor track which will be nice sine it is snowing like crazy. Wish me luck.

Sorry you're so uncomfortable Jen. My son was 3 weeks late and even waited until 3 days after my water broke! They don't let that happen any more. I know the date wasn't a mistake. It happens oftener than most people think. I'm sure your little one will make an appearance soon. Prayers for an easy, safe delivery and I look forward to meeting your little one in the gallery!

I have no experience of this as Nathan put in an appearance a whole month early. you must be fed up of waiting. Hopefully baby will soon be safely in your arms instead of your tum!

Jen, I so feel your pain!! Going over is just the worst, worst, worst. Every day, you hope with all of your heart that TODAY will be the day! It's uncomfortable, it's stressful. Just plain ol' hard. I took Castor oil mixed with juice with my 2nd, and it worked amazingly. I went into labor within 2 hours of taking the caster oil. :)

Other tips... hmmmm...... when the body is ready, it's ready, I guess. Have you had lots of braxton hicks? Has your dr. stripped your membranes? There's really only so much we can do to hurry the baby along, I guess. Hang in there!! It WILL happen - there's no way you're going to be pregnant forever, although it feels like it. It's just not possible.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Still no word? here's hugs Jen. I'm hoping by now you're sharing them with your little one in your arms. I was late with my first and third. The worst was with the third. My car had a manual transmission and by the last three weeks, my big ol' belly wouldn't let me get behind the steering wheel and still get the clutch in. But he came out pretty quick once things started and weighed in over 10 lbs.
