Copy And Paste In Lo

Is there a setting in PSPx2, where you can change where in your LO you can paste an image? In myne it goes to the center of the image... and I have to move it in place and when I am working on the fancy folds ...and it would be easier if the pasted image would go to the right place in the page then me having to move it from the center ... it would be a more accurate placement of the piece.

Thank you all again... for the the help you offer here,

Hi Mimi. I’m not sure about PSP x2, but the suggestion I can make is to use the PSD’s from the fancyfolds. If you drag/drop the psd’s into your psp program you then have all your layers in the proper place and can just work layer upon layer. HTH

You can make your own PSD if there is not one. In PSE this is what I do:

Open all the files for the pieces you will use.

Duplicate the bottom-most file and close the original.

Now, build up your layers onto the bottom-most file (in PSE we hold shift and drag the new layer over. This will place it right where it needs to be in the file).

Once all the layers are in the one file, I rename the file adding COMPOSITE to it, and save it as a PSD. For example, TKA_FancyFolds3_left_upper_COMPOSITE.psd (just made that up, but you get the idea).

I also link all the layers together to make it easier to move it as a unit to the LO, but that's just my personal preference.

Now when I want to use that fold again, I don't have to build it.

HTH, Mimi (but maybe you knew that already).

There is not a way in PSP to have layers go to a certian place when using templates but I do have a free PSP script in the Boutique just for creating layered .pspimages when using templates. May do come with the psd files which PSP can use but if one you are using did not come with psd files try downloading the tools and let us know if you have questiosn.

It just seems very time consuming to do the Fnacy Folds then... I did read your fancy folds tutorial Dee, I will print it and take it home to have it in front of me to follow it step by step ... and see if it speeds the process up a little ... but creating you own .psd sounds like a great idea... to me the hardest part is to move the pieces into place and the shadows and I can't seem to get it 100% right so it looks so-so, also sometimes I'm confused of where the shadows go.

Open up the sample JPG image and then make it smaller on your PSP board and then open up a new 12x12 transparent file and put the pngs in place following the jpg for help on placement. Then save the new thing as either a PSD or as I do as a Fancy Fold 4 Template. pspimage

or another thing you can do like we do for the sketch challenge is to take the jpg and put it on the 12x12 transparent file and lower the opacity then layer each PNG over that to put it in place. Sorta like a see through puzzle to help you figure out where the puzzle pieces will go. Once that is done you can delete the jpg layer and then save it as stated above.

OK Dee ... I have copied and pasted all my layers in the copy of the bottom layer and I click script then run then it gives me a list and I pick your 12x12 square and it told me it is about to do it and I click yes continue and it doesn't do anything. What am I doing wrong?

I posted the following about a year ago. I think the technique might work with the fancy folds templates-- I don't have the kit, but looked at it in the boutique.

Most of the layered templates I've bought have included a PSD layered file that I could save-as a PSPImage file. I like to convert them right away so that they're ready to go when I'm ready to use them.

A month or so ago, I got a layered set that didn't include a PSD file (Scattered Pictures 2 by Syndee Nuckles). Each template was 10 or so individual PNG files that needed to be layered together. When I tried to copy/paste the PNG files into a PSPImage file as layers, all of the images tried to center themselves in the file, instead of landing where they needed to be for the layered template.

This particular set used all gray-toned images, so I flood filled each PNG with a bold orange color, surrounding the element in the layer. Then, I selected all in that layer, copied, pasted it as a new layer in my PSPImage template file, magic wanded the orange (choosing RGB value) and deleted the orange out of the layer. It took a little while, but I ended up with a layered template with all of the elements in the correct spot.

By the way, I love the scattered pictures template file. I had about 100 photos from the school play and was able to do a really cool scrapbook in an afternoon.

Debbie, this makes so much sense. Fortunately most of the templates I have already include a PSD file, but some of my earlier ones do not. After reading your post, I went back into my files and made PSD composites of all the ones that only had PNG's. Now they will be sooooooooo much easier to use! Thank you!

You won't see anything change once you have run the script until you copy and paste it into your new image. You will know it worked correctly by placing the piece in the correct place and not the center.

What the script does is to place a 1 pixel square at 1% opacity in each of the 4 corners. When you paste the copied layer into your new image workspace the corners keep things lined up properly.

Oh! and don't forget to save the finished layered template as a psd file with the same file name as the original. I save it right in the same folder. This way you can reuse it later without going through all the steps again. And saving as a psd allows you to open it with a Photoshop program down the road if you ever get one.

Hi PSPERs--W/regard to getting your selection on a new layer in the right place, try this: 1)Make your selection 2_Go to Selections, Promote selection to layer. No cutting & pasting necessary. This puts the selection on a new layer in the same location that it exists on the original layer. You can then go back to your original layer and delete it from there if you wish. Hope this helps!
