My parents' 50th wedding anniversary is coming up in June. As I may have mentioned here before (:)) I have a complicated, difficult relationship with my parents. They really don't have anyone but my dh, kids and me to celebrate with them, and I'm not sure "celebrate" is the right word anyway.

But 50 years of marriage needs to be commemorated somehow, and I am wracking my brain trying to figure out what to do. I love the scrapbook pages I've seen Lynn (kidsrgreat) do for her in-laws (some of the rest of you have done some wonderful anniversary LOs too). However, I seriously hesitate to attempt a whole scrapbook of their married life together -- so many of the memories would be painful for me, not to mention them.

We will probably treat them to a nice dinner somewhere, but I'd like to get them a gift, too. Any thoughts?

How about just a single layout framed Bobbi? If you have a wedding picture and a current picture you could use both on the layout but if not any photo of them together would work. You could create it at an 8x10 size for ease of printing or go with the 12x12 and send it out to be printed. Both Michaels and Hobby Lobby have the 12x12 metal frames. They're not real classy, but you might be able to find something nicer online. Valerie Randalls Gold and Silver Collection would be a neat one to use. Also, Lori Cook's Golden Elegance Papers are pretty cool.

What about a framed layout of you and your husband and kids? Without them your family wouldn't exist...focus on the best part of them being together. ????

I think both pat and gwen have good ideas. A single layout framed. As far as the subject matter- what do you thing THEY would appreciate - something with your family - or something featuring them?

Could you get your children to do a LO for them with your help?...none of your difficult memories and an affirmation of life going on

for my inlaws 50th we did a scrapbook ...paper style.... i got the pics and different family members made different pages....so maybe a one page would be nice.... and you can do it together as a family so that it will also have good meaningful time for you to be together

perhaps a hybrid page would allow you to do the digi that you know and dh and the kids can do some pasting and stuff on the page...then you can frame it in a shadow box

when we did the paper page i had given each person in the family a page to do ...for example my kids did a page on themselves with photos of themselves and grandparents ...so if possible maybe the kids can make a page....
