FreeToRoam
I have organized most of my stuff on ACDSee, loads of hours invested, and now every time I launch the program, it crashes. The error message is "ACDSee can't connect to Database.............etc.". Then the program closes and can't be launched again. My husband restored to the last backup, I launched ACDSee and it works for about 10 minutes and crashes again. Is this program unstable / unreliable, or am I just unlucky? Have any of you experienced this? suggestions, solutions? I have a request to Technical Support, but either they are very busy or have a really small crew because their automated response indicated it could be up to 4 days for a response. Thank you so much for any comments, etc.
MargotW
I stopped using ACDsee because I would get a message the program has stopped responding. I too had spent hours sorting, organizing and tagging and was not a happy camper. I finally uninstalled Acdsee and started over with my tagging using Windows Photo Gallery. I'm almost organized once again and haven't had any problems.

mimes1
Have you optimized lately? I use ACDSee and have rearely had a problem. it did get into a crash mode lately. I contacted them , and they answered very quickly, to try to optimize first. I did that and have had no problems since. To get to optimize go to the tools > database>optimize. That may not be exact. When i get home from work I'll check.
ManiakMama
I have this problem happen occasionally as well, then I optimize my database and that usually solves the problem.
Guest faerywings
I always recommend backing up and optimizing your database first. It is easy, painless, and usually does the trick. I back up and optimize at least once weekly. If that doesn't help, you can try this: Recovering from crashes. Deleting the cdx files. Or: Locking or Crashing? ACDSee initial install errors. If not you can post at http://community.acdsee.com/forums/ if these don't help.
lorac
I too had problems with ACDSee crashing on me. I tried everything listed above and called their help line. Still kept having problems. So I finally gave up and didn't use anything for tagging. Now that I have Vista, I use the Vista Photo Gallery and it is so easy to use. Tagging takes way less time than in ACDSee and searching is just a snap. Love that part about Vista.
