They look so cute! The smaller paint can size is perfect for a bridal or baby shower party favor!

I've seen some really wonderful altered cans. I'd like to try some for the craft show I'm going to be in in December, the problem is finding the cans to alter!

The gal who does a lot of these over at 2Peas says that she likes ACE Hardware. Evidently they are cheapest in her area at ACE and the handles are sold apart from the cans which makes it easier to alter them. I hear online that they are also sold at Lowe's and Home Depot stores. I hope that helps!

I've only done one, but it was really easy and turned out so cute that I'm planning on doing more.
For Christmas, I'm doing one for each of my sister's kids. On the outside, I'll alter it with what each is into (ie: one of her ds is into animals so I'll find cute animal theme paper and/or stickers). Then I'll just get small gifts to fill them - kind of like stocking stuffers. I'm also thinking of doing one as a teacher gift for Christmas but it depends on how much time I have after I make all the stuff I'm "planning" on making for gifts. Is there really only 59ish more days until Christmas???

I haven't done one of these yet, but I was thinking they could be fun gifts for Christmas.

Which I suppose means I should get moving on them, huh?

I made an alterd tin for a class that I taught at my LSS. It was a winter survival kit to give to a sick friend. It has chicken soup, crackers, hot chocolate, hot tea, honey, tissues, etc.... It turned out really cute. I will try to attach a pic so you can see what I did.

Hi!
I found a can yesterday. Well, it´s more a rounded cardbox with a tin lid. I´ve been talking of painting my bedroom on olive green and old rose (or dust rose) and I´d like to decorate the box in those colors. Do you have any ideas? Do you know a web site where I can get some inspiration? My style it´s kind of romantic/rustic/old time.

Thanks

WP

I've finished two altered cans for our kids. They are on their dressers as clutter catchers. I'll finish the one for our youngest when we get back from vacation. His is currently unfinished. It sits on top of our dresser and holds his potty training prizes. I think that I'll use a pirate's booty theme for his.
My husband had to go to at least three different places to find them.ACE, Home Depot, and Lowe's don't carry them in this area.

I made one of those for a friend's baby shower a few years back. I filled the can with a cute baby outfit, baby sunglasses, shoes, candy for mom, etc. I kept it simple. I left the can as it was (silver--from Home Depot) and tied a big polk a dot ribbon around it and tied the can opener to it. It was a big hit!
