Paper Templates

Ok, I’m trying to figure out how to use paper templates. I would like to be able to use them in 2 colors, but for now I’ll be happy with 1 color and black. I’ve tried reading and following the directions that came with them. I get lost on step number 5 where I’m supposed to merge 2 layers into one. The directions tell me to use Ctrl+E. I’ve tried this many, many times on both layers and all it does is zoom in. I tried looking through my layers tab to see if I could find anything that said merge because I know it has to be somewhere, but I can’t find it (I’m using Photo Shop 7.0). I’m sure I’m making some obvious mistake. Can anyone help me?

I think that's supposed to be Ctrl+G, for a clipping mask. Try that and see if it helps.

Thanks. But I still only zoom in when I tryed Ctrl+G. Anything else I should try? Sorry, I'm bad with computers.

You're not on a Mac are you, Gina? I have a Mac, and Command (or Apple)-E makes my layer merge with the layer below.

No. I’m not on a Mac. And thanks for all the help.

I got it! The answer was right in front of my face. When the directions said Ctrl+E I was pushing 3 buttons. But the + meant and. So when I hit only Ctrl E, it works.
