Hi Everyone! I am new to the message boards. I just started scrapping digitally about 8 months ago (had been paper scrapping for many years before that - but I hate the mess!). Anyway, I haven't really printed any of my layouts out yet and have decided to purchase a photo printer so that I can do so at home. I have a Mac and I scrap with PSE 6.0. I have been doing some research and reading several of the comments on these boards, and I think I may have decided on the Epson Artisan 700. I was just wondering if any of you use or know anything about this printer and what you think of it? I'd really appreciate hearing from you! Thanks!!

Hi Sarah! I did not purchase the Artisan 700 because of the paper feed. On the Artisan 700, the paper needs to go through more of a u-shaped route than on other Epsons which have more of straight paper feed. I like to print on fabric and heavy card stock sometimes, so I ended up choosing the Epson Workforce 600 for around $130 at Sams Club. It has a straighter paper feed which in the past has seemed to do better with the odd things I put through a printer. (I've even printed on lunch bags before!) But if you print on standard papers, the Artisan 700 looks like a really great printer.

I'm not completely happy with the Workforce 600, tho, because I networked it and all was fine but now one of the computers won't print... but other than that, I like the Workforce 600.

Epsons are great as long as you print every couple of days so the nozzles don't get clogged.

It's good to buy a printer from a store that will allow returns (for money back), and I think Sam's gives you at least 30 days to do a return. Office Depot had a good sale, but it would only allow a return as an exchange for the same exact printer.

I have the Artisan 800 and I really do love it. The built in scanner is good, love the fact all of the inks are separate and it was very easy to set up and just print.

The only think about this printer that is on the negative for me is that you really have to print on Epson Paper. I have experimented with some older photo papers that I had and I don't get that great of results at all. As long as I use the actual Epson brand paper, The prints are fantastic!
