Hello everyone! I posted yesterday that I am buying a printer for printing my 8x8 digital scrapbook pages. I was thinking of going with an Epson Artisan printer but after doing some more research I am going to go with an HP 6380. Now the question is what type of paper do you use? I am planning to buy HP paper, but I don't know what type - there are all different qualities of paper. And then do I go with high gloss? Soft gloss? Matte?
I have never printed any of my digital pages before so I just don't know what type of paper they look best on?

What Type Of Paper Do You Print On?

Nowadays I only ever print for my wall. I get all my layouts made into photobooks, which I love.
For anything that's being mounted & framed for the wall I use Somerset Enhanced Velvet Archival watercolour paper. It has a beautiful texture and gives the prints a really artistic appearance.

Whatever paper you decide to use whether for scrapbooks or for hanging on the wall, go with the best - if you use the cheapest paper it will, in time, fade and will not look as good as the day you printed it. That is just what I have found - others may feel differently, but I hate to waste all the time I put into a layout and print it on cheesy paper and three years later see it all faded and not sharp I love the matte paper and I really love the textured paper that makes a layout look like a watercolor as someone else has already said - My scrapbooks are primarily binders that i buy and design a cover and back for and then I put the pages in acid free document protectors that have the three holes in them so I can just insert them in my scrapbooks. I used to find some really beautiful binders that closed with a ribbon but have not been able to find them for years, so I just kind of design my own now. Even Staples printer paper in matte or glossy finish is good - not that much cheaper really. I use HP or Kodak paper - but my very favorite, as I said, is the textured paper. They even have textured paper for cards to digi scrap on and I use them al the time. Hope this helps some - everyone is going to have a favorite paper so you are probably going to get many different answers to your questio.

The above thread is great. I have different papers for different purposes. I have a Staples within walking distance. I watch the ads and get paper when it goes on sale. I use double-sided matte for my 8x8 projects that I do for graduations or holidays. I use glossy for the postcards I print. I use presentation paper for candy wrappers & other SG craft templates. Now that I have a stash, I always have something fun to use.

I have a stash too, Steph - and it continues to grow much to Rich's dismay - I have a little something for everything - and when I run out, I head for Staples to just buy that one thing and always come home with something new. I am at my best in an office supply store like Staples or Best Buy or any of those. And I also try to buy in bulk when there is a sale but not only do I not have the room to store bulk paper, I usually can't afford to put that much money into it even though it does save me in the long run.

I play around with all varieties of paper products. I just redid a display I did for our local SB store for the entrance vestibule. The photos I printed on HP Premium Plus (I have an HP PhotoSmart printer that does wonderful job--good color and skin tones) looked terrific. The photos that had been printed on the HP Premium (NOT Plus) and other brands were very faded and had to be reprinted and replaced. It really made a believer out of me!!! From now on, except for specialty items, I'm ONLY printing on HP Premium Plus. I just stocked up on the good photo paper at Staples with their buy one-get one of equal value sale. That seems to work for me. Good luck!

I appreciate this thread a lot being a new digi-scapper. I haven't done this, but know someone who does, and I wondered about it: printing out pages on plain cardstock.

I have always preffered a glossy finish for printing my pages. Also, as was mentioned above, get archival quality paper if you want your prints to last.
