I need to reformat my hard drive. It's been crashing and crashing and some advice I've gotten is to reformat the drive. I do have all my files that I use like photos and scrap supplies backed up. I'm wondering though what else should I back up in folders ... I thought maybe the folder that has my PSE actions and styles ... of course... Can you think of what else?? Any advice will be appreciated! TIA!

Back up all your fonts. Copy them from your font folder into a separate folder and back that up. Because it is not easy to find all your fonts again. Also your favorites from your browser that you have saved. Otherwise you will have to save them all again
I lost all mine with my crash this weekend. I'll have to rebuild.

Fonts, internet favorites, any finance files (quicken or whatever) - that's all I can remember that I missed last time I had to reformat mine!

depending on the reformatting you need to do you might not have to save alot, you should if you do a "soft" reformat have lots of stuff save on pc, now if you wipe everything out then yep save the "good stuff" Hope that helps when you go to reformat in the older versions of windows there was a choice to wich way you were going to do the formatting,I always did the soft one so I did not loose everything.

In addition to everything above... Everything in your Documents folder, if you use MS Office, check in the Application Data folder for any templates and your dictionary. Also, if you use Outlook, any .pst files.

Don't forget to back up your mail and contacts! This is something a lot of people forget about!

Thanks ladies!
I'm going to make a list just to make sure I don't forget anything. So keep your suggestions coming please.
It makes me nervous to wipe the memory completely... but it really has to be done. It kept crashing yesterday about every 5 minutes while I had the internet connection on. I know it is a driver problem but ever since I did the upgrade to vista (came free with the laptop about 2 yrs ago) it hasn't been able to install windows updates like those service packs so I know its more than just the driver. I'm looking forward to it working properly and being quicker on start up and shut down.
