My exercise was a day at the Frio River in Garner State Park on Sat. We took the kids & the dogs with us & had a blast wading & swimming in the cool, clear water. We were all starving so I am thinking the metabolism was high - good thing since we probably cancelled all of our calorie burn out when Father's Day found us eating Mexican food & a slice of Godiva cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. Oh well, I will burn it off this week (I hope!). I did lower body this morning & as soon as it cools off a bit I'll hop on the treadmill for my running (I prefer to wait for evening because we have the treadmill by a window that lets the morning sun in so even if the a/c is crankin' it's too warm for me).

WTG Jenna, that cool water wading sounds divine. Great job on the lower body. My house is a mini furnace so I know what you mean about waiting for a cooler time of day.

Burn Circuit 3 and Plyo Cardio done. I was able to increase weight on all the exercises and I'm feeling pretty accomplished (and sore) right now.

How is everyone else doing?

did upper body then spent the rest of the morning starting on the compost tumbler. It's washed out, the door is cut, the lip for the door to rest on is bolted in, hinges painted, & the holes for said hinges, hasp, & axle are drilled. It's drying in the sun right now so I can (hopefully) shoot it with a coat of black plastic paint later on. Tomorrow we are planning to mount the hinges & the rest of the hasp, mount some "clod breaking" metal strips inside, & drill the ventillation holes. After than we should (hopefully) be ready to go back for some lumber & get the sawbuck built for it & we should be in business! :) In the mean time, there is a spaghetti squash about the size of a small eggplant on the trellis & more canteloupe than I can shake a stick at growing. Saw my first baby watermelon too - it's the size of a large egg - so cute!

I just got in from a 5-day trip, just a break from the humdrum of being home all the time. Got to spend some time with a good friend and did a little work on the genealogy with a trip to an old family home. That doesn't sound like much, but I put over 1,000 miles on the car. Got a lot of walking in too, but am falling behind on training for my race in July.

Jenna, I found the Chi Running DVD in my public library - just a thought.

I'm glad to hear you've all been keeping active, and it sounds like you're all having a great week. I'll be back on the wagon tomorrow. See you then!

BTW, I learned that my great-great-grandfather and his brother drove a herd of cattle from Ohio to California in the 1850s. Wonder where my tenacity (or stubbornness) comes from? Wonder what HE did to stay in shape???

Jenna, great job on the workout and I'm so impressed with the composter construction.

JoEllen, the library is a great suggestion. I really love the DVD. It's well organized and easy to follow.

i didn't work out today. I had really bad insomnia and it took me most of the day to just get going. I'm hoping that my TF will be coming tomorrow so I can cue it up on Thurs.

Never thought of going to the library for fitness tapes. Great idea. I've been meaning to get some books anyway. Today was a good day. Worked in the yard, walked on the treadmill, and road my exercise bike. Stayed under my calorie limit too.

WTG Katie,
TF arrived today. Wow. It's amazing.

Fire 30 and Stretch 10 done. I played the HIIT 15 to see if I could do it before work tomorrow. Uh, no. I'll plan on doing it after work.

SO I started P90X yesterday was actually my first day Jan and I'm not sore at all, but I have been working out about 5 days a week. I have been keeping up with my water and of course I gained when I started to drink again :) but I think I'm doing good so far with a few slips...like Chinese buffet on day and a 3 Musketeers yesterday ... aarrgghh... but did the workout just fine a little slower than their pace but kept up and did everything. I'll do the lean program cuz I don't want big muscles just want to burn. I like it so far and I can't wait to try the other workouts.

So back to be back on track, I'm sure you ladies have been doing well ... Mimi

Slow but steady here. Another pound lost. I'm trying to make this a lifestyle change. Actually, I'm pleased that I had a loss after my birthday party and not a gain. My kids asked me what I wanted for a grilled meal and we had marinated chicken breasts and marinated veggies, delicious and hardly any carbs so I was able to have a piece of cake.

Composter is complete other than a missing hasp - always something LOL

I have lost 15 lbs so far this summer. Nothing really changed so I am guessing my metabolism raised the white flag & surrendered. LOL We have been eating home cooked meals from Cook Yourself Thin & a few other lean menus (or I make it lean), & we have been keeping water consumption up & moving our bodies. Always a good thing. We have a camping trip planned to the Frio River in Garner State Park next week. 3 days or so will be spent in the water & baking in the TX heat (um, any special reason my husband likes to camp in the hottest or coldest weather & not in between???) Upon our return Bryan should be fine to resume weight workouts (after his hospital stuff late last mo) so we are diving into P90X. He has promised me to follow the program as is & not try to do his own thing if he "runs out of time", which, so long as we plan properly, shouldn't happen.

Checking in a wee bit. Bike is fixed, I've been riding but not everyday and especially not in this heatwave this weekend. Walking everyday. Blood work tomorrow for Blood Doc appt August 5th and AC1 testing again. Haven't been on the scale but I know I was at 170lbs when I should be at 140 so I know my diet is not all there. I'm hoping I can do better in August. Its hard when you have a limited budget for groceries and all the fresh stuff is way more expensive :( Looking into checking out the Hiking and Biking trails ( I have to go to the Travel Info place to get the maps) and maybe I'll get started on more biking and that will help. Of course, I'll be taking my camera with me when I do :D

Vaughnde, holding good thoughts for your A1C! you're in this for the long haul, so do what you can each day. That's really all you can do.
