Helloooooooo, my fitness babies!! PAT, I'm *** proud of you!!! Keep at it! Let's drop all those meds!!

Working on the "X". I tell you, after legs and back, I could BARELY walk on Saturday! It was so bad, I had to take a day off! Haven't had to do that in a coon's age! Got back on the horse on Sunday and I'm glad I did...I was starting to grow moss...LOL!

Watching two pups means that posting time is hard to come by...but you know I'm with you all in spirit!! I have some before and after back photos to share with you. I'm so proud at what I have been able to accomplish. Who knew that you COULD get rid of cellulite?!? I didn't...but now I do!!

Love and hugs to you all...KEEP MOVING!!

(Are you all on facebook? I have some daily challenges running if you are interested. I'll post them here too if you aren't!)

Good morning, fitness groupies! Your challenge today is to give up something you have been wanting to give up for a long time. Maybe the sugar in your coffee, maybe switch the soda out with some iced green tea. Maybe you chew your fingernails...maybe just quit salting your food. Choose ONE thing and start beating it today. Tell me what you chose to quit. Don't forget to get 20 minutes of exercise today, too!

Hi everyone,

Jan, thanks for the info. ChiWalking sounds just my style.

V, you are definitely the energizer bunny. WTG.

Laurie, I'm glad to hear you're back in the swing and your elbow is mending.

JoEllen, you are so sweet to ask. Alas....sigh.....no melting yet. I just know it will happen in time. Sunday is my last dose of hormones. So, I'm really looking forward to next week.

Sandi, another thing we have in common. Apparently I've been walking around on stress fractures for the better part of a year. I agree that taking it slowly and watching the body signals is a good thing.

Pat, anything that requires "schlepping" has got to be a great calorie burner. The harp; I'm so impressed that you can play such a fabulous instrument.

Theresa, I love that you love to get so sore you can barely walk. I really looked at those before and afters and I am thoroughly amazed at the difference in you upper back and your arms. Don't get me wrong, it all looks so great but those arms and upper back--I am so wanting those kinds of results. Fabulous. What inspiration.

This week I'm giving up whining about being tired.

Tonight I did Push Circuit 3 for the last time on this go round. I'm very happy to say that there are a few exercises that I'm lifting as heavy as Chalene. Yay, I'm making progress.

My goal for tomorrow is to do Burn it off and Recharge after work.

See you here tomorrow.

Walked 1.6 miles Tuesday. Did some walking in Sherms while grocery shopping this morning. Will do more later this morning when I go to the kid's house walking from the Library to their house another 1.2 miles on way.

I am so appreciating everybody's encouraging words. It seems like such a slow process, but I'm sticking to my guns. I apoligize that I'm not better at giving specific kudos for what everybody is doing. I will try and do better.

I walked 55 minutes yesterday and 45 minutes today. Kind of goofed off taking photos along the way today though. :)

Hi everyone! I have been absent from the MB, but have been doing my best to keep up. My ChaLean workouts are intermittent, but during the busy band and cross-country season I got my share of walking, running, and hauling heavy objects. By also keeping my eating in check (esp. since I've been too busy to snack) I was able to drop a little more weight. I'm happy to report that after a couple of weeks bouncing on the 150 line, I dropped to 148!! Yay!! I'll be working on being more faithful--esp. as the holidays approach....

I didn't get back into my progam like I planned. I skipped a couple of days, but did the
Kathy Smith Power Push aerobics tonight. I'm starting to "pop" a little more and modifying
a little less.

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Laurie, I'm with you on modifying a little less. Some days, I'm good with going all the way with it and some days, I just sort of slog through it. Today at work was the first day I wore my shape up shoes all day at work. I'm up and down and back and forth the long hallways all day, so usually get a lot of walking in. I could really feel the muscles tonight after I got home and took the shoes off. Feels sore but good. I think I'm going to like these things.

Everyone is doing so well. WTG ladies.

I got home from work very late last night (10:30pm). So, I went to bed.

I took my dog to the vet today and the vet is cutting his meds in half to see if we can reduce the number of blood draws he needs. He gets so stressed out. They tried to take his temp in his bottom end. He squeezed so hard they couldn't get the thermometer in. LOL. That's my little furbaby.

I got myself a new pair of shoes for work. They have a negative heel pressure design. I'm essentially standing with all my weight on my heels and the toe box is really cushy. They're made by a company called Earth. They burn 25% more calories than regular shoes. I like that they force my back into normal alignment and my shoulders roll back automatically. I hope they'll be comfortable enough to wear all day at work.

I also got a fabulous chair massage. I had no idea how sore my neck and shoulder muscles were. Wow, I feel great now. I definitely need to make that a more frequent habit. So nice.

I did Burn it Off and Recharge tonight.

My goal for tomorrow is Lean Circuit 1 with my new shoes.

See you back here tomorrow.

WTG on the loss, Kim! Glad to see you here. It definitely sounds like that between band and cross-country, you're getting some good exercise!

Laurie, you're doing great! Just be sure not to beat yourself up for missing a few days. We all have ups and downs. Don't let the down times become an excuse to quit. Just get right back on that wagon and keep going. Do your best and forget the rest! :D

So glad to see you all here checking in. I know I haven't posted in a few days. Nothing much going on, just really gearing up for the run next Sunday. I ran 3 miles on Tuesday and I'll be running 4 miles this afternoon some time. Mike and I are going to a Chi Running workshop on Sunday. We hope to get a really good feel for what Chi Running is from that, so we'll be able to implement it for the race next Sunday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Great job, everyone! :)

Jan, in response to your question about my Tai Chi, the formal class ended but I'm trying to do it everyday. It is very calming.

No more progress on the scale this week. :( And I've been really good. Oh well, it will show up eventually.

We've got our son's dog for a few days again and we got a brisk walk in this morning. Walking Meli is a full body work out. I'm wiped out. LOL I really need to take the time to try and work with her on her pulling.

Hope everybody has a good weekend. We have our annual pipe band dinner tonight. Can we say "temptation"? ;)

Good morning everyone,
Jan good luck on your upcoming run.

Pat, that dog walking sounds like a weight lifting session.

I did my first Lean Circuit 1 this morning and my arms are jelly. I was surprised how low I had to go on the weights in order to complete 10 reps. Definitely a change from Push.

My goal for tomorrow is to get an Ab workout done after work.

See you here tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,
Are you all out getting fit while preparing for the holidays? It's been quiet in here.

I let my workouts go the last two days. I was working and it has been one crazy ICU season already. I'm thinking of wearing a pedometer to work.

Anyway, I did Lean circuit 2 today (for the first time). Wow, this circuit is amazing. I'm really glad CE builds up to this....I really have to focus on my form.

I took my last dose of BCPs last night. I'm so ready to be my normal self again. Yay.

My goal for tomorrow is Burn Intervals and an AB workout.

See you here tomorrow.

Its been busy! I walked a wee bit yesterday and went walking with dad today the normal 1.5 miles at the mall. The next 6-7 days is shaping up to be RAINY pouring down rain weather...so I'm glad I'm walking INSIDE right now. They are starting to put up the Christmas decorations at the mall and I'll take my camera with me tomorrow to take some snapshots. Other than that No...and I think if I'm getting shin splints (right leg because its shorter than the left one!), then I need to find some exercise videos that I can do to strengthen my leg muscles as well as the rest of me. Walking is getting to the point where its just not enough...unfortunatly this month and next month is gonna be killer money wise!

Hi ladies!

It has been quiet in here over the weekend, but I know how busy weekends can get! I hope everyone still had a healthy one!

Mike and I went to the Chi Running Clinic on Sunday and really got some good instruction on the Chi Running form. I had a chance to get a lot of practice in this morning, when I did my 8 mile run. I wasn't feeling too good. My head hurt, probably from dehydration - didn't drink enough water before I went out. I was also tired from being on my feet running and standing all day yesterday. We also didn't eat very well. We had nothing but a P90X protein bar between breakfast and dinner. So, I wasn't feeling as energetic today. As I was running, I really concentrated on my form, though. I did feel like I was running slower, though, because I didn't feel to good. And while my legs weren't hurting, which is what the Chi Running form is supposed to do, my right arch was hurting really badly, I think from my shoes. Chi Running is a mid-foot strike rather than a heel strike, and the arches in my running shoes are pretty high, so they were ramming into my arch every time. Didn't feel good. So anyway, I got the run in, although I did have to walk .5 mile. One of the other "side-effects" of Chi Running is the ability to run faster with less effort. Basically, if you've got the form correct, then you naturally go faster because you're letting gravity do the work for you. So anyway, as I said, I didn't think that was happening for me today, but lo and behold, when I checked my time when I was done, I had run a 10 and a half minute mile instead of my normal 11 minute mile, and that's even with walking .5 mile! So, I guess I had the form right, and it definitely works! :D

Vaughnde, I've been hesitant to recommend any videos for you, because I know how tight money is for you, but I'll list some here that might be more in your dollar range. These will help to give you some variety from your walking, and also give you an alternative on those rainy days! :)

Turbo Jam Live - this is with Chalene Johnson, the same trainer who does our ChaLEAN Extreme video. Chalene is wonderful, and Turbo Jam is more of a dancey, kick-boxing routine rather than a weight-lifting/calisthenic workout.

Yoga Booty Ballet Pure and Simple Yoga - Gillian Marloth Clark takes you through an exhilarating routine that helps you get toned and slim as you enjoy classic yoga without any difficult choreography. I haven't done any of the Yoga Booty Ballet workouts, but they all look fascinating to me. :)

Great Body Guaranteed - Each move targets a specific zone to tighten and tone in under 10 minutes a day. With trainers Tony Horton and Debbie Siebers. This package includes 5 workouts - Great Abs Guaranteed, Great Arms Guaranteed, Great Buns Guaranteed, Thin Thighs Guaranteed, Great Stretch Guaranteed. You can also get any of these workouts separately for $9.95 each.

If you do decide you want to get one of these, I'd like you to sign up under Theresa by going to her Coach website. Gotta help my girlfriend build her business, too. :)

Let us know if you have any questions, Vaughnde! :)

I'd love to help you Vaughnde! Let's find a program that works for you! There is nothing like regimented exercise...

I love reading about how all of you are doing. Is anyone brave enough to show me before and after photos? I'd love to see them!

My P90X continues as I round out my final week before my "rest" week. I've made some progress in some areas, but not so much in others. There is a leg workout in there that is killer and every weekend after I do it, I'm just toast! It is amazing how it can exhaust me so. And I thought I was in GOOD shape! LOL!! I guess not that good!!

I have 3 pairs of Skechers Shape Ups!! I love them!! One pair is for my workouts, one pair for my outside walking, and one pair are for everday. That pair is ready to be replaced after 5 months! But I notice a big difference wearing them. They are pricey, but really, they seem to do the job. And I love that I gain a few inches from them too...;)

OK, puppies are fighting...must run~

Everyone KEEP MOVING!!! Make me smile!! :)

Theresa

I didn't work out over the weeekend, but we did mall shop on Sunday. We didn't hit a lot of stores, but the ones that we
did were pretty far apart.

I'm starting over on week 5 of Kathy Smith's Project you. I don't even know what week I should be on now, but it
is the first week that includes lower body.

Hey Ladies! I have not checked in for a while, but I read your updates everyday! I am so proud of you guys!! :)

I have still been going to the gym M-F and getting some great workouts in! I did miss today, though, but for good reason. I had a playdate with another ScrapGirl! A real live ScrapGirl!! It was worth missing a workout for. Back at it tomorrow, hopefully, if my little one isn't sick.

I weighed in today and I am .5 lb from the -15 lbs mark!! :) That made my morning! Gives me the incentive to keep pushing this week and reach that benchmark.

Happy healthy days to everyone!! :)

Wow! Everyone is doing sooo great! I have been keeping up with my workouts but have not done CE each day as our schedule has not worked out so well. We are back on track with CE... We did Push Circuit 1 yesterday and Push Circuit 2 today. I am sore as I moved up in weights again this week.

Jan - I forwarded the ChiRunning stuff to my brother (who runs marathons but had to bow out of the Marine Core Run this year due to hurt knees) and a friend (who is doing a half marathon this April). I am intrigued myself as I can't run because it always hurts my knees so I am interested in learning if this can change.

Have an incredible day everyone!

Hi everyone ! I'm doing the Chalean videos and let me tell you I'm sore and tired. But its a good sore and tired. Finally with the good news that my spinal fusion is actually fusing my Dr. gave me permission to work out . Lightly ofcourse but its been since Aug. 08 that I had the surgery and the accident was in Dec 07. So almost 3 yrs since the accident I haven't worked out walked or done hardly anything. My before photos are just horrible! I have gained so much weight, I can't believe how bad I look. Just fat and so unhealthy!! But all of that is going to change and quickly I hope!!!
I've had to modify some of the exercises basically because I can't really bend or lie flat on the floor. But, that's okay because I'm doing it!!!!!!! Its great to see so many people getting healthy its such a motivator to read your posts!!!! See you soon

I haven't checked in for a couple of days. I did walk 40 minutes yesterday (as much as I could handle with the dog) but dog is back with our son now so I had a lovely 50 minute walk on a glorious fall day. My weight is at a stand still at the moment but it should start dropping again soon.

Thanks for the list of videos Jan. I'm going to check those out for myself. I know I'm going to need more than the Wii Fit when its too yucky to walk outside this winter.

Theresa, I'll post before and after photos when there is actually some difference to see. I have so much to lose, 18 lbs. lost doesn't show very much. :)

Oh *GROAN*! I didn't work out early this morning like I should have. Instead, I waited until almost noon. Even though it had been a few hours since I ate breakfast, I guess I still had food sitting in my stomach and it made for a very unpleasant workout. I got 73% through, so I'm just going to accept that as a success and commit to doing it before food next time. On the good news front, I'm able to get through all the shoulder work now. Pushups are my big bug-a-boo right now, can do 3 wimpy ones before I collapse, but I'm sure they'll happen eventually.

I am inspired by all of you! Have a great day!
JoEllen

Hi everyone,
V, I'm impressed with your dedication.

Theresa, I'm still totally motivated by your photos. Thanks so much for posting them. You mentioned that you have 3 pairs of Shape Ups and use one pair for workouts. Do you wear them during your P90X workouts? I tried a pair on at the mall yesterday and they are so much more comfortable than the Earth shoes I bought. I'm just wondering if they will be useful to me during my workouts. And, I wouldn't mind the few extra inches either.

Laurie, great job at getting back into the groove. I hope your elbow is healed and you are feeling yourself again.

Christy, you can melt that 1/2 lb!!!!! I'm rooting very loudly for you. Go Christy Go.

Dawn, WTG with getting back into CE. I keep looking at the other programs but love my CE so much.

MJ, I'm so glad your spine is healing. Yay, you have so much courage to have gotten thru that ordeal. I've been modifying the CE workouts too. I ruptured my Peroneal tendon on 5-10 and it will be a full year before it's done healing. So, I'm hoping to get 60 lbs off or drop 5 sizes in this coming year. I'm here with you. Let's get this done.

Pat, I love that you keep walking even with the dog pull going on. Humans lose weight from the inside out. Just think how that 18 lbs of fat is no longer hanging out in your organs. What an amazing accomplishment. Your heart, lungs, kidneys....are all singing a major thank you song. And so am I. Keep it coming.

I did Burn Intervals and Extreme Abs today. This was my first hormone free WO since 9-18. I had so much more energy. I even did 8 of the burpees in full style. I weighed myself to use the number as my new starting point. I'm up that 5 lbs I've been bouncing around. But, the GREAT news is....I have had some really awful eating days, I'm premenstrual and I'm still not any higher than that 5 lbs. This is truly a testament to the muscle building benefits. I'm actually really happy with my results. If I hadn't been doing CE, I would have easily gained another 10-15 lbs over the last 2 months. I'm really looking forward to completing the Lean circuit and starting over again.

I work tomorrow and my goal is to do Lean circuit 3 after work.

see you here tomorrow.

Walked 1.6 miles today at the mall. I'm finding I need some other kind of shoes and I dont want to order special ones just because my right leg is shorter than the other one. Uff dah! Maybe those Sketchers or whatever might help me esp with the right leg getting shin splints! Those HURT! And No I don't push through it either...it only comes up when I try to walk faster to get more power walking done and I try to lengthen my stride which is probably hurting my hips as well. I don't think I ever learned how to walk properly! I still trip over my own feet and even trip over little bumps in the sidewalks ( I have a hard time lifting my feet high enough)

Did Kathy Smith's lower body & ab workout tonight. It is a hard workout for me, but I made it through. I was really glad
to move on to abs though :situps: :situps:

Ok I debated about posting this, but I think I need to!! I am so sore and achy tonight. My entire back is killing me and the Morphine and Percocets aren't touching it!! Now, I'm getting scared that I did something to my back. Now I know that I didn't its just muscle soreness I'm a nurse and I know to be calm and rational, but, its me not a patient and the pain is just killing me!!! I've tried heat and ice, I haven't taken a muscle relaxor yet I'm kind of waiting cuz they knock me out.
I was planning on working out tomorrow and I still want to I guess I should see how I feel in the morning.... I guess I just need some input reminding me that I won't fall apart at the seams!!!! lol Thanks for listening to my whining!!!

Mary Jo, what day are you on in ChaLean. Remember, there are two rest days built into the program. Be sure to take them. And even if tomorrow isn't your normal rest day, you may want to take a rest anyway. If your back is up to it, then just take a light walk, just something to get the blood flowing.

Now, it may just be DOMS setting in. DOMs is normal muscle soreness that occurs when you start a new program. But if Morphine and Percoset aren't touching it, it sounds like more than DOMs. (BTW, there's a post about what DOMs is somewhere on this thread. You can search the topic at the bottom of each page for it.) So, I would recommend taking it easy tomorrow. If you're up to a walk, do that at least. That will help to loosen up any soreness from the workout.

I didn't work out today. I'm taking it really easy on my days off from running. My biggest fear is that I'll hurt myself this close to the race. After all of this work, I am not going to let that happen!

I did get new running shoes last night. I'm hoping that will take care of my arch soreness. We'll be running two miles tomorrow and 3 miles on Thursday, so I'll be able to tell after that if these new shoes help. And then no more running until the race on Sunday. We leave for San Antonio Friday night. I can't believe it's almost here!!!! :eekout: :eekout:

Thanks Jan, I think I am going to take a break from the routine tomorrow and pick it up again on Thursday. I can walk one of the dogs as long as we have decent weather. Its raining right now.. I'm going to take the Flexerall now and 2 more Percs and hit the hay . Hopefully all of this will help. I'm determined to get rid of this weight and get my back as strong as possible!!!! Thanks for the input I really do appreciate it.
