Hey. I've googled ChaLEAN and I feel like I'm wandering around a bit in the info. lol
Care to share some specifics about the program?
Like...should I get myself into a little bit better shape first? Lose some weight first? I need to lose about 60lbs as it is. Well, for my satisfaction. I don't need to be a size 6.
I saw the Insanity stuff...that certainly looks like something a more fit person would embark upon. lol
Is ChaLEAN available at a sporting store like Dick's...or just online?

Dish out some info! Please. :) lol

Thanks.
:scale: :situps: :exercisebike: :yippee: (That reminded me of jumping jacks.)

Charlene, I'm working with Chalean DVD's and while I've never not worked out, you really can do them at your own pace. They demonstrate different levels and you can follow the one that works for you. I'm sure Jan or Theresa will help you with what one would be best for you.

Hey Charlene!

ChaLEAN Extreme is a program that is based on the principle that muscle burns fat. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism, so the more calories you will burn. It combines both cardio and strength training to help you slim down, tone up and shed fat.

The cardio workouts are rather intense, but I have several customers who have been pretty sedentary working out with this and getting wonderful results. They simply have to modify the moves, hit pause when needed to take a break, and then get back into it. Each time you do the workout, you'll do better and be able to do more.

The thing that's so great about the Beachbody programs is that they come with nutrition guides, so you have help on that side of things as well. What you put into your body is 80% of the battle when it comes to weight loss. Beachbody wants you to be successful at losing weight and getting healthy, so they do everything they can to help you be successful. Including assigning you a coach to help and encourage you on your journey. :)

You can see more about the program here: ChaLEAN Extreme

If you do decide to purchase it, please go through either my Beachbody site or Theresa's to do so. I'm going to PM you that info so it will be easy to find.

Let us know if you have any more questions!
Jan

Hey Charlene, you and I are in the same boat with the same amount of weight to lose! I just moved to a new town and was given a gym pass as a gift. Well, once I saw all the tiny young ones there I knew that wasn't the place for me!! LOL. Sad that I need to shape up before I could go there.

I'm walking more and promising myself to exercise at home... for now.

Good luck with your fitness plans, I love to know how you are doing. I need a motivation buddy!

Char & Karen, I'm with you. I actually have about 67 pounds to lose to my ultimate goal. But I would be ecstatic with 60.

I got the Beach Body 10 minute trainer program. I really like it. I'm not using it right now 'cause I'm still rehabbing my ruptured tendon.

I ruptured one of my ankle tendons on Mother's Day and have been off work since then. I was doing 3 hrs of cardio 4 days a week (all my non-work days). I now realize that if I had been doing more strength training, I probably wouldn't have been injured as badly and I wouldn't have gained back 18 of the 26 pounds I had lost.

Since I have to stay low impact, I have been using another program but I'm thinking the Chalean may work for me even better.

Let me know what you think. Jan is a wonderful coach and I am ready to get fit again.

Good luck to everyone.

Hugs,

Thanks for the info. It's nice to "get into" something if others are too. lol Such as the ChaLEAN workouts.

I just got my rear off the couch and did a Leslie Sansone 2 mile power walk. Yay me! lol
I know that type of workout is not as active as some others...but at least it's something.
I worked up a little "sheen." Okay, so my face was sweating.

I'm overweight, but I'm fairly "capable." I'll look into the ChaLEAN system/workouts, continue (meanwhile) with my array of Leslie DVDs, and get my food intake back under control.

Karen, Stephanie...the more motivation, the better! :)

I'd love to be wearing some of my previous shorts next summer. (I have quite the range of sizes in my closet.) I think I'm the biggest right now that I've ever been. Ugh.

Here's to our health! (And smaller clothes! ;) )

Oh Stephanie! Ouch! A ruptured tendon sounds incredibly painful!

But you know what's great about all of this, you have proved to yourself that you can lose that weight! And it will come off again. While you're down a bit, just be sure to concentrate on eating right. That will help to stop those pounds from coming back, and you will be in that much better of a position when you start again.

I think you would do great with ChaLEAN, Steph. In every workout she has someone modifying it with a low-impact version. So you can just follow that person.

Karen! You can do it! I know you can! :)

I'm doing the ChaLEAN -- it's great! I see muscles I didn't remember I had! :D Now... my eating can use some help, but in my defense, I haven't GAINED. LOL. It's just been one of those months. Anyhow, I LOVE it. It's a great workout, and so invigorating. As a matter of fact... I'm gonna get off the MB and go and work out... right now. Yep. Now.

Do it! you really won't regret it -- and Chalean is so motivating.

Hugs! :)

I'm another Chalean fan. For the first time today I did not feel pushed past my limit on weight, so I guess that means time to increase. On her cardio days I keep it low impact and still get the heart rate flying! And Chalene is so friendly and motivating. And funny too. It's easy to workout with someone like that, even if you've heard what she's said before. She is so smiley and kind, but in a nice way kicks your b--- too!

Can someone tell me what the difference is between Chalean and Insanity?

Hey. I sent Jan a PM about your question. (I don't think she's seen it yet, though.)

My wild, uneducated guess...Insanity is a high intense workout...that I can't do. lol
Anyway...hopefully Jan will come along soon.

Oh...and Jan...wasn't there something a while back by you about your journey? Was it a muse? A designer's life article? A layout? What/where is that?????

Joann & Kim, thank you so much for the reviews. That's exactly what I wanted to know.

Theresa, It may be up to a year before I'm completely done healing. My doc says I may never be able to run again. So, jumping jacks and plyometrics will be out for awhile; possibly forever.

I am more than happy to be your workout buddy even at low impact.

Hugs,

Hey Keri!

ChaLEAN Extreme is a wonderful, comprehensive cardio and weight training workout with an absolutely wonderful trainer named Chalene Johnson (creator of Turbo Jam, if you've heard of that.) You have probably read my description of that above, so I won't go into that any more.

Insanity takes things to the next level. Insanity is all about cardio and interval training. It's for those who are ready to really push the cardio or are training for marathons/triathalons, that sort of thing. Although a person will burn fat on Insanity if they have it left to burn (like me!), that is not the centerpiece of the program, as it is for ChaLEAN Extreme, since people going into Insanity should already be in really good shape.

Here is a link to take a closer look at Insanity.

Let me know if you have any questions. And if you're interested in getting either of these, let me know before you do so I can direct you to the right place. :)

I just have to laugh at the name Insanity in relation to a workout program. I am totally NOT there! And the 'Extreme' part of Chalene's workout almost scared me.

Yeah, I think I did that layout for a designer's life article, so the article had something about my journey. :) Did you want me to post the text of it here? I can do that, since it was in a newsletter so long ago.
