I just found out this morning that dh will be taking over a command just outside of Omaha, Nebraska! He'll be leaving Saudi Arabia early, in late January, then heading to Virginia for school. He'll finish that up in late June and we'll move in early July. That means I'll have to get our current house of 10 years ready to sell and move, all by myself. Nebraska is a long way from here, but I think I'm looking forward to it. And I know a few SG members live there, like Pat!

We plan to tell the girls in the morning on Skype with dh. I know Lauren will take it hard, but I've already bookmarked the zoo and children's museum website so maybe that will soften the blow.

Just wanted to share our news!

Well it sounds like you're really excited! I'm glad your hubby will be coming home early, I'm sorry for all the work you will be doing alone, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Lynn is in Nebraska too. You've got a lot of work to do by yourself, but having dh home early is a good thing!

Wow, big change. Will have to definitely get a meetup in before you leave this area. Nebraska does sound good though.

We played in Omaha for a few days when we were on our vacation this summer! The zoo was AWESOME -- really one of the best I've ever been to. I loved it! :D

How fun! Sounds like a great move -- AND you get your DH! :) Can't complain about that, right?

Nebraska is a great place to live and raise a family (lived here for all of my 58 years) - welcome to the state. Pat, BobbiJo, Lynn, and I are all here and I think I am missing at least one other person (sorry I have forgotten you off the top of my head). I am in western NE, so you can swing by, pick me up and we'll head out to CO to visit Angela. So enjoy your DH at home and we'll see you next summer.
Oh yeah, tell your girls that the zoo is incredible!!!

I'm only about 3 1/2 hours south of Omaha and when the midwest girls get together we have a blast. I should be getting home from New Zealand about the time you arrive. the zoo is awesome and its really pretty there

The other "local" is Angie - scrappinang.

It will be great to have another Scrap Girls here. The interesting thing is Carla is my co-committee member on the Monthly Layout Contests!

Carla, I'm glad the destination is settled and you have that long to prepare. The assignments system is making progress! Tell DH congratulations from Michel and me. AGR commanders have unique challenges, and so do their spouses. I'm only a phone call or email away if you need a sounding board! After this deployment, though, you will be a champ.
Congratulations to you both!
hugs,

Carla,

Good luck with all of that. It is amazing what you can do by yourself when you have to. Just take little steps at a time and keep going. Also good that your DH will be done with the deployment early.

And Gayle is great support! :)

Thank you all so much! I've already checked out the zoo website and can't wait to show the girls. I am excited, but I know when it's time, it's going to be hard to move. Dh will be back in the states early, but still won't be living with us until the move. That will be hard for him, I know. He won't be living in this house again, except for a few days here or there.

Oh, and Angela, dh already talked about visiting Denver, so maybe we can meet somewhere!

And Julie, I will do whatever needs to be done to meet up with you all if you do have another get together before July!

I've only been to Nebraska a couple times, but loved it. And everyone I've ever met from Nebraska is totally cool, so it's bound to be a great assignment for you. ;) I'm so glad your dh will be home sooner, even with all the oddities. :)

:sign_Congrats_wav: Carla...it will be such an exciting time for all! I just saw this...and was wondering what all the "Nebraska" chat was about on the Status Board. Glad you are happy about the move, but know you will experience some stress between now and then, so I will be sending you lots of prayers and positive thoughts to help you through this time. Its great you will be near a few other SGs out there too! God Bless! :grouphug2:

Carla, I loved moving from one place to another during my stint in the Army. I always saw it as an adventure. I'm glad you have a positive attitude it will rub off on the kids.

oh Carla, I am so happy you have an answer and a direction. as I have absolutely NO idea where Nebraska is, especially in relation to where you are now, LOL, I'll just wish you all the best on your move, and so happy that you will have your dh back.

It's good that you have a fair amount of time to get in order and, as scary as it sounds, time goes so quickly before you know it, you will all be back together again....just in Nebraska!

So glad dh is coming home. I had to move around a lot as a kid, but I think it made me a stronger person! That doesn't mean that I didn't groan each time papa told us we were going to move. lol I always prefered to move during the school year because I immediately met new friends. If we moved during the summer, it took longer to meet up with other kids. They'll do great, and how could it be better than to live near other scrapgirls!
