Hello everyone

I am Karen, married to Jeff (my very wonderful husband). We have eight children (30 down to 10) - I homeschool the youngest five. I love all things arty.....but because of above time restrictions, have resisted paper scrapping for many years. THEN....I discovered digi scrapping. WOW! Just what I have been looking for. Scrap Girls is so amazingly wonderful....the quality and information are excellent. I have been puddling around in SG for a few months now just trying to get to understand things. I have only completed a handful of layouts. I have bought Ro's tutorials and downloaded many more (as well as buying a few little goodies here and there). I use Corel PSP X2 (which I am also very new to).

I have bought some brushes and masks but am totally clueless as to how to get them into my PSP files. I have copied them into the PSP brushes etc folders but they don't come up in the program....(if that makes any sense to anyone I would love some pointers please).

Thanks so much for being there.

Karen

Hi Karen! Very nice to meet you. I'm new to digi scrapping myself and going to change over to PSP from PSE. There are a lot of members who use PSP and many who can help you with any information you need. I'm sure that some will be saying hello to you in this thread. If you check the university, you will find a lot of information on how to and there are instructions on brushes when you download your free Refresh brushes. There is also a forum about PSP, along with many other helpful forums. I'm not good at links but give this one a try until someone else comes along who can help you better. :-)

Hello Karen and Welcome to Scrap Girls!

To install brushes in PSP, you must have PSP open and open up the PNG brush, resize it to 999 pixels at its largest whether it is height or width and then click on the brush icon as if you are gonna use a brush and then at the bottom right there is a little button click on that and a pop up menu will pop up and you can insert the information on the brush you are installing: The name of the brush, the designer and where from aka Scrap Girls or whatever and then click okay and its installed. Just putting it in the brushes folder will not work. They must each be manually installed.

There is a TON of information in the SG University for PSP. Just click on the link under the word PSP and it will take you there. Have fun browsing and don't hestitate to ask questions!

I use PSP x1 and anytime you need more help, there is a PSP Forum. Dee Decker (DDecker) is our PSP Guru around here although there are quite a few of us :)

Hi! Welcome to Scrapgirls! So glad you decided to introduce yourself here on the message boards. As they so aptly mentioned above me, there are some great resources here for PSP and there are quite a few members from your neck of the woods as well! Welcome!

Hello Karen and welcome to SG ... :2468who-do-we-appreciate::2468who-do-we-appreciate: Digi scrapping is definitely the way to go with such a busy life as you no doubt have. So glad that you found your way here and you can't go wrong with all of the wonderful people here! Your questions will be answered with smiles on their faces (or fingers).

There are other aussies on here as well so you might get to catch up with them ... not sure what side of Aussie you live in, but they have a chat as well.

I used to live in NZ but moved to the US 11 years ago. SG has become like my second home and digi scrapping is definitely the way to go!!

Hi Karen and welcome to the Message Board. Thank you for introducing yourself. With homeschooling your brood, I'll bet your time is limited. Digi saves so much time since you don't have to take out all your stuff and put it away again! :) I look forward to seeing some layouts of your wonderful family.

Hi again everyone.

WOW! What an awesomely warm welcome you have all given me. It even made me a little teary (I'm like that). Thankyou so much.

I will try to find my way to the PSP forum. That sounds great. I will also try to put a little pic of myself in the profile as well as try to upload a couple of layouts. I would really love some feedback for improvement.

Would you believe that I haven't been on a forum before??? and I must be one of the very few people who don't have a blog or subscribe to Facebook etc. So I have so very much to learn from you all. I don't even know how to put those little smiley faces in my text.LOL

Hi Jane....yes Gipssland is in Victoria. Gippsland is the region - we actually live near Lakes Entrance which is a coastal holiday resort on the south coast.

Hi Anne-Marie. Nice to meet another Aussie. Where abouts do you live?

I love the sound of an evening chat, however Jeff has found that we need a new Java somethingorother and seems he doesn't think it will work for us....so I will have to settle for no chats just now.

Hi Yvonne....yes, digi scrapping is proving a wonderful subject for our art/craft lessons. So far my 10yrD is well hooked and she has gotten her 12yr brother started and now my 14 yr old son is asking to have Corel installed on his computer so he can scrap also. :) isn't that great? Hannah was even asking if there was any provision for children scrappers to share?

And thankyou so much to the lovely lady who gave detailed info on loading brushes (I forgot to write down your name and don't know how to get back there without losing this). I can't wait to try it out.

Thanks again everyone. I feel very welcome and looking forward to participating more.

Karen, from one Aussie to another Welcome!!! Im so glad that you have dropped by and took the time to introduce yourself to us. You will find that Scrap Girls is very much a supportive community. Dont hesitate to ask questions as there is always someone to answer them for you. Anne-Marie is correct that we are having an Aussie Chat tonight. We generally have a chat on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month and they are held in the Live Chat room from 9-10pm. You husband is right, you will need to have Java installed to come to the chat but it shouldnt be a problem to download. Have you signed up for the newsletter yet? If you haven't I would recommend that you do as it is a wealth of information (including up-coming chats) and you get a daily freebie as well.

I hope to see you around the boards and I look forward to seeing your layouts.

Karen
