Guest Gwyn
The Tate Watch Company of Switzerland was well known for their beautiful and highly accurate timepieces. To own a Tate's watch was the height of luxury. As the years went by, the Tates decided to diversify their offerings and began to develop a line of compasses. Though beautiful, the compasses were useless. Unlike the accurate timepieces, the Tates compasses became known for their worthlessness as navigational tools, thus leading to the expression--- "He who has a Tates is lost." (Read the punchline out loud if you still don't get it--then you will!)
