Here are some pictures of my son that I have done two different layouts on. I am really interested in what others think, so I think I need to post this here. I already posted in Share the Love, but maybe different people check this forum? Anyways, I was also wondering a quick question, how do most of you use brads in your layouts? I just can't seem to find the right space for them in most of the layouts I have done. Just curious! Thanks for any comments you may have!

Trying To Learn All That I Can

Beautiful LO...left some love. You did a great job. You can use brads like any other embellishment...size it up or down, place a drop shadow to give depth, bevel it, add a glow, all different things. Important thing is to experiment see what effect you like and the best thing is you are not wasting materials like you would with traditional scrapbooking. Add different styles to change the color, make it metallic, dull it, whatever. It takes a little time, so be patient, but practice and HAVE FUN! Hope this helps!

I don't really use brads that much. If I think I need to anchor a photo or something like a journal piece I will use a brad. I wouldn't use a brad on either of your layouts. Just my cent worth(I'm not savy enough to have 2 cents worth.)

Thanks for all the support and comments! Yes, I was wondering about brads if they needed to be used to anchor photos like buttons? Or can you just use them wherever you want on a LO, like flowers or other things. Would that look silly if you used them somewhere other than to anchor a photo? Just wondering what you think!

I don't use brads that much either. Mainly because I forget about them. I have so much other stuff! However, brads can be wonderful in digital scrapbooking! But if you want to know how others use them, I'll share that with you. You can use them to anchor photos like this: Friends. Use them to hold a journaling tag, as I've done here: Get Off My Back!. You can scatter them around to help the viewer's eye across the page, accentuating your photos, like this: Sunset and Sailing. I have a layout in mind where I really clustered brads, but I can't find it in the gallery (I was sure I posted it!). I'll see if I can find it and come back.
LOL, I guess I use brads more than I thought I did!
edit: I just can't find the clustered brad layout in the gallery - but here it is:

You are doing a great job - loved your layout - and like Yvonne said - brads can be used like any other embellishment - they are great for lists of journaling for one thing. Good luck and welcome to SG

YUP Shari pointed you in the right direction. Brads, buttons and fasteners are so useful and can be used to anchor or decorate a layout! I'm finding I'm using them more and more!
