It's slowly sinking in for me on picking the right colors out of my photo for my layouts. And then I go to use a photo like this, and it's thrown me for a loop.
Take a look... January 2010 Calendar
I like the background papers and such here, but I'm just not sure it's working with this photo. Anyone have suggestions on how I can tie it together? Or should I scrap the whole thing and start new?
TIA for any CC!

Becca, I really like this layout, and the colors seem like they're on the right track. I love the way the patterned paper picks up the pattern on the tube. Your DD's clothing colors and the tube are intense. I'm wondering how it would look if you duplicated the patterned paper, and multiply blended (or saturation, or some other blend) to intensify the color. Or selected some of the squares and darkened/intensified the hue.
I think it's so close--don't be discouraged--it's beautiful!

Left my comments on your LO - but don't expect anything as I'm not help on LOs! I'm with Barbara though - I love what you've done, especially since the photo you chose is so colourful!! I think you did a wonderful job!

I LOVE it!! Don't change it ... the background paper is fun and great for a winter layout with that wintery blue color! I think the days of the week need to be highlighted more .. maybe a darker color ... maybe the purple (not sure about that ... you'll have to experiment) or maybe a darker shade of the blue-turquoise. And I would make the date numbers the same color ... purple, if that works.

I'm voting on the side of "don't change it", Becca. I thought your BG paper was perfect for picking up the colors in the sled -- didn't really notice the dark colors of her clothing. Love it the way it is!

Love it, Becca - I wouldn't change a thing - your first thoughts are usually the best ones anyway - when I do a layout and then go back to make changes, I always wind up going back to my original.
Great job! Keep it as is.

I re-did it. I couldn't get past the "it wasn't winter-y" enough, so I tried again.
What do you think now?
January 2010
I think I'll end up using the original background and colors for another month. It just wasn't screaming "January" to me, ya know?

Left you some love and cc on both calendar pages. I'm leaning more towards the first one you did. Love those bold colors.
