I like this one:

My quote for today is:

It is always better to fail in doing something than to excel in doing nothing.

I know this is a months-old forum, but since I only joined SG in mid-January, I get to use my "I'm a newbie!" card for a while. I love quotable quotes...and sometimes when I hear one, I say, "Wow, that's cross-stitchable!" b/c I used to cross-stitch great quotes for the wall. If nothing else, people usually chuckle.

So.........my favorite quote that I can think of off the top of my head is one I put in my baby's book...a decade ago:

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take
but by the moments that take our breath away."

Have no idea where I first heard it but it just fit right in with the feelings I had when I was a new mom!

Cindy, I love that quote! Here's a cross stitchable one for you: "Any bug can hit the windshield, but it takes guts to stick." lol We hung that one on our bathroom mirror when I was in college.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.

A kind of a quote in a poem that I keep beside my desk on my bulletin board:

A little seed lay in the ground
And soon began to sprout
"Now which of all the flowers around,
Shall I," it mused, "come out?"

And so it criticized each flower, that supercilious seed,
Until it woke one summer hour
And found ITSELF a weed!

When you see faults in someone else
Before you criticize, beware:
For you have flaws and failures too
That others have to bear

BE PATIENT WITH THE FAULTS OF OTHERS - THEY HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH YOURS! :daisy:

I love this poem - I read it every morning and I used it in a layout for my granddaughter who was having a problem with a friend she had been friends with for years and suddenly was finding fault with everything she did - my granddaughter used it in her school paper and got an A plus on what she wrote which included this quote and my layout! I was so tickled and my gd learned something from this poem quote.

I went back AND read the original purpose of this thread AND in a nutshell it's too provide quotes that could be useful on scrapbook pages! Positive, inspirational AND motivational quotes!

Here is an excerpt from Sandi's opening post:
So often I love to add a quote to my LOs, on my desktop, to my siggy, on a card. There are tons of great quotes out there, we have an ebook of quotes, there are tons of books just for scrappers with quotes, but I love to browse the online quote sites... Let's start our own library here... Let's see how many we can get. if you use one, tell us how you used it and if you used it on something in the gallery, give us a link.

Best friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words. - Unknown

"Are we going to be friends forever? Asked Piglet. Even longer, Pooh answered."
Author: A.A. Milne -- Winnie the Pool

I LOVE Winnie the Pooh quotes - used this one in a layout for one of my younger grandkids when he announced that he had found his best, best, best friend in the whole wide world and that they would be friends forever and ever and ever and ever - his exact words! So I had a great pic of them together and did the layout around this quote!

I love that one too, Kay - maybe the wonder my little grands have has resulted in the wisdom they seem to have lately! They are so young and yet their wisdom amazes me! Would you mind if I use that one in a layout of them? I think I have the perfect picture for that quote!

Hi all have not been adding quotes to this site lately but have been reading them. One I cross stitched for a friend was:

Dust is a protective covering for furniture.
