I'm going to your house for Christmas! We've done a whole beef tenderloin before.

Ohhhhh crab? Now that does sound yum!! .... what was your address again Valerie????? ;) The past several years my son the chef has done a prime rib and bacon wrapped sea scallops with a homemade tomato jelly dip (for the sea scallops) ... that is a feast! We have done Mexican before as well for Christmas day .... but Christmas Eve has always been cold cut trays and cookies growing up and my DH grew up with grandma's homemade chicken soup and cold cuts so when we married we combined the two and I always fix grandma's soup and fix a nice deli tray of cheese and meats .... man ... just getting home from work and I"M HUNGRY NOW!!

Vegetarian! I have added a Tofurky to the turkey meal at my parents house several times now. They are funny looking, but very good (unless you overcook it...do not ask me how I know that).

I'm going to Valerie's house, unless someone is having Lobster, then it would be a difficult choise! :ROFLL: We've had Turkey, Ham, Prime Rib, Crown roast, soups and sandwiches, .... depending on the year. This year, it will probably be ham............ :) Okay now I'm hungry! Better go eat breakfast!

I agree, April! We have a huge feast on Christmas Eve which varies every year depending on what my sil and bil want to make. The last few years we've done prime rib or beef tenderloin on Christmas Day and I absolutely love it!

Turkey for Thanksgiving and Ham for Christmas. When I'm able to stay at home all day on Christmas day and have the grandparents come to us, I will cook a big breakfast in the morning and then set out things to nibble on during the day like ham biscuts, sausage balls and whatever cookies and candies I've made.

My son hates both, but he thought our Thanksgiving turkey wasn't horrible so we'll probably do turkey for Christmas with my family and ham with my inlaws (he'll eat lots of corn). ;) I found a great video with Alton Brown doing turkey. Easy, too. I might freeze some and put it in our pumpkin soup for New Years. :)

Despite the fact that it is always very hot at Christmas time here (too hot to have the oven on!!) we still do the full roast for lunch...turkey and ham, baked potatoes, carrots, beans, peas and corn... topped off with Christmas pudding with custard and icecream.
We still head off to my parents or inlaws who are definately traditionalists...when it comes times for me to host Christmas it will be prawns, chicken and steak on the BBQ! with lots of yummy fresh fruit!

Turkey for Thanksgiving, ham for Christmas! Christmas Eve we eat a smattering of finger foods. The kids love it when I make meatballs, cocktail wieners, and buy cheese in a can and sparkling grape juice. We turn off all lights except the Christmas tree and light tons of candles. They love this traditional 'candlelight' dinner and ask for it each year. For a couple of years we changed and did fondue, but we are returning to the old fave this year.

That sounds like fun. I might have to try the 'candlelight' fondue dinner this year.

Turkey for Thanksgiving, ham for Christmas, and the tradition of the last few years in order to make things easy on Christmas Eve is chili and hot hoagie sandwiches. I make the chili ahead of time and everybody makes their own sandwich.

We usually have both at my cousin's house for Christmas Eve. Christmas Day it's usually Lasagna, as it's tradition in our Italian household, served with meat balls and sausage (yummy) and of course the antipasto salad before dinner. Another yummy dish.

Merry Christmas to all :christmas: :dancing_penguin:

Most years it's turkey, but we've done ham occasionally. We always do a cold spiral-sliced honey-baked ham for our New Year's Day open house. Last year we did pork tenderloin with apples and mushrooms for Christmas--a change definitely approved by the family. It's turkey this year, though, since we bought two turkeys right before Thanksgiving, on sale. (I'm happy!)

My dad's family always had lutefisk (if you don't know, don't ask) for Christmas Eve, so when my brother was old enough to run a grill, he started making steak for Mom, himself and me. I'll miss him this year. :)
