Outlander Series

So I've read all 7 books in the Outlander series (wasn't #7 a nice surprise?). For so long Diana Gabaldon had said 6 books, that's all. Then An Echo in the Bone came along and there are so many loose ends, that I know there's got to be a #8. Yay!!

But for now, I'm desperate! I've read the whole series three times and I'm desperate for new material. Are there any other authors that can tell a story like Diana can? I love her writing and would love to know of other authors like her.

OMG -- so glad you "meet" another lover of Outlander! Isn't Diana wonderful? And her writing's not too bad, too! {LOL} Last I heard she was taking the series to 1800, so we have at least 20 years to look forward to!

Do you have her book "The Outlandish Companion"? If not, you should get it for yourself for Christmas! It contains loads of cool information and tidbits, but it also includes a "methadone list" of authors and books that readers of her series might enjoy while waiting for the next one. Also, her Lord John Grey novels are really good, as well -- there are three of them, so far.

Oh, and WELCOME to Scrap Girls! :)

I love the Outlander Series!! I haven't read book #7 yet, though. I need to get on that. I also need to read the entire series over again. I honestly don't know if I can recommend another author that I've enjoyed reading as much.

Jennifer, I'll look for The Outlandish Companion, sounds good! Thanks for the idea. And I'll definitely check out the methadone list - I am so definitely hooked and need a fix, lol.

Julie, you need to read An Echo in the Bone!! I was afraid to start it, figuring when it was done, what else would I have?? But once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. Even took it with me to choir practice and read in between songs and when other choir sections were practicing. Got lots of teasing from my fellow altos!

Hi CelticLady,

It's so great to meet another Outlander fan! I have read all 7 three times now. Wouldn't Gerard Butler be a great Jamie if they did a movie? The first book will always be my favorite. This one I have read at least six times! I have read so many historic novels but none as good as Diana's. My favorite site for book shopping is Amazon.com. You can read some of the pages with "look inside option". There are many sellers with used copies at very reasonable prices. Great reviews too! Also some of the book fans have lists of there favorites, which is a good way to find more great books on subjects you like.

Fan of Amazon and all things Scottish

I am a huge fan of this series and I really think my favorite character is Lord John Grey.

But aside from the wonderful storytelling, this series has given me an insight into my own Scottish roots and where those ancestors may have settled when they emigrated to this country.

I don't know if I'm in favor of putting this story into movie format. Whoever is cast will never be able to measure up to what my imagination has created. These characters are incredibly real to me and I miss them immensely between books.

Is that just sad or what? Do I need to get a life? LOL
