I have PSE 8 and find myself drifting from just scrapbooking to creating my own embellishments, scanning textures, making papers, etc. I wonder how styles are made and saved to the .asl files. Or any of the custom tools your designers create, shapes, etc.
Thanks for any info! Happy HOlidays, Blessings of the Season to all. Michelle

Hi, and welcome! Creating & saving styles and actions is limited to Photoshop, rather than in PSE, sorry.... You can do SOME modifications of styles in PSE, but can't save them, and can't always get at all the characteristics.

Welcome to Scrap Girls!

Barbara is right. You can't create styles or actions in PSE. You can create your own brushes, so that might be a great place to start learning to create things. In Mastering Brushes for Photoshop Elements there are several really good tutorials for creating different types of brushes.

Michelle, welcome to Scrap Girls!
We're so glad you - and Jessica - found us!
You can do a whole lot with PSE, but it does have limits, and you have just bumped up against one.
Don't hesitate to ask questions - and I hope you future questions will be ones we really can help you with.
Looking forward to seeing you around!
:)

Thank you for the answers! Saved me time and effort not having to learn it the hard way... I've saved some brushes but working on how the pros get the depth effect, or how the dynamic brushes work. I received a tablet thing for Christmas, that should keep me busy for a while. (Photoshop is pretty expensive I think, have to wait on that one.)

Hi Michelle,

It's true, some things we designers just won't share. We've worked long and hard to build our craft and this is our livelihood. We have created many tools that help people feel creative with our extensive ScrapSimple product line. With ScrapSimple you have the basics we work with to produce a full collection but with your own unique touch. So we don't share every little detail though we do share so many tips and tricks in our newsletters and on our university. You can also get the best techniques compliled in batches in our handy Scrap Girls Tutorials & Way Cool Stuff eBook Set - 2009 3rd Quarter.

Have fun creating!
Valerie

Welcome to the message board! That's great that you got a tablet. I love mine! When you're ready, Photoshop is worth the price, at least in my opinion. :)

I bought a (legitimate) copy of PS CS3 on craigslist from someone that had bought the commercial version and had more copies than he needed. I registered with Adobe and it is completely upgradeable. I think I paid $150 for CS3 extended.
