I am very, very new to PS. I have the CS2 version. I went crazy and bought several scrap simple things, now I have no clue what to do with them. Specifically, I am trying to use the Montage one, but I really don't know what to do. I don't see any directions with what I downloaded, although it is possible I have overlooked something. Can someone help?

Thanks so much!

Steph

Hi Steph,
Although the new ScrapSimple products should have instructions included in the ZIP files, I just downloaded this Montage template file and I don't see instructions either.

However, to use this particular template, you just need to place your choice of paper backgrounds underneath the layer that has the template. Anything that appears in the open holes of the grid will show through; Anything that the template covers will be hidden.

To learn more about using the ScrapSimple products, be sure to check out the tutorials in the SG Unversity. You'll find a section on ScrapSimple products on the first page of General Digital Scrapbooking Help.

Hi Steph,

Betsy actually made these particular templates before the instructions for the others started to go in. I've just emailed her and asked her to fix that. Meanwhile, let me tell you what to do. I've used them before and they are really fun.

I can tell you exactly what to do with it, but it would help me if you told me what software you are using. (PS, PSE, PSP, DIP). The directions vary depending on the software.

Most of it is the same, though, regardless of the software. Thao is right about sliding your pictures under the template and then either dragging them to size (making sure that you don't distort) and clipping off the extra. You will end up with a really neat layout that way and the template covers all of the edges of the photos.

The software question I am asking has to do with how you could use the template to cut out a paper or color the template, if you would like to do that.

Anyway, hope that helps some!

Hi Steph!

I think because this was the very first item that eventually became the ScrapSimple line, there were no instructions. I'm writing some right now, with screenshots for examples, and as soon as those are ready, I'll e-mail them to you!

They'll also be included in the files for anyone who purchases them in the future.

Thanks for pointing that out! :D

The ScrapSimple things are FUN, aren't they?

Here's the basic idea of the layout tremplates - the template goes on top of your photos, papers, title and journaling blocks. Ro and Thao really covered it pretty well. You can also select the template layer and change the color, or cut it out of a patterned paper - lots of possibilities.

I'll e-mail you as soon as those instructions are ready! Anyone else who needs them, please feel free to email or PM me through my profile! :D

Thanks for the replies!

I am still pretty confused—I think mostly because I am not very familiar with my software.

Ro—I use PSCS2 (or at least I am trying to). I cannot figure out how to resize my pictures or color the template. Like I said, I think a lot of that is because I am not very good with the software yet. I ordered the PS CS2 for Dummies Book, so hopefully that will help!

Betsy—Thanks, I will look forward to receiving the instructions! Pictures should help me immensely!

I really am looking forward to figuring out the scrap simple stuff—the samples are wonderful! I spent literally about 5 hours yesterday trying to figure out what I was doing wrong (not with the montage template, but the tear it up ones). Still haven’t quite figured it out, but I feel like I am making a little progress!

Thanks again—hope you all have a wonderful day!

Steph
