I wanted to share with my Scrap Girls family that my son Jonathan is on his way home! He's in Germany right now and should be home soon. He sent me a message stating that and that was it! So, I hope he calls soon to let us know when we can pick him up at the airport.
He was home in May on leave to get ready to go to Afghanistan in July. I wasn't able to see him off in Colorado when he left so its been quite awhile since I've given him a hug! But that will all change very soon....
He has 2 weeks leave and then back there for 6 more months! Just to have him here is so exciting the house has erupted with excitement and we all are just smiling from ear to ear!
I promise to take tons of photos and do a scrap book on them all this year!! I can't wait to share them with all of you!!!!!!

Update: We just got a text from him and he is in Atlanta!!!! He is back on American soil and I can rest a little easier now. I will rest totally when he is home and safe with his family!!!!

Wonderful news, Mary Jo. I know you will enjoy every minute of it. My granddaughter's husband was here on leave right before Christmas, and is back in Iraq now. As far as we know, his deployment ends in June.

Well he's here and I am so happy to see him. He's lost weight and he's so tired, so my job is to fatten him up and make sure he gets lots of rest!!!! I guess his job is pretty stressful and he's been really busy, but he's up for a promotion well they are looking at two different positions. One is a Platoon Sgt. and the other is a Drill Sgt. I think either one would be excellent for him, but its a waiting game I guess or so I've been told!!

Drill sergeant is long hours but at least you're in one place for a while. It's a chance to mentor and train new Soldiers, too. Both are terrific leadership positions. My DH was a drill sergeant when he was an NCO then after OCS went back and worked the training officer and commander sides. I think there's a special place in heaven for good drill sergeants!
Have fun feeding him!

Tonight we are having Talipia and rice with a nice salad. The fish isn't too fishy and the rice is perfect for a sick stomach. I think its the Malaria meds he's on right now. He's been sick all day today, I feel bad for him, but he still has his smile on so he's surviving it!!!
I would love to see him as a drill sgt. I think he'd make a great one, but he says he doesn't think he has the patience for it!! lol And I would love to see him go to OCS . With only 10 yrs left I'd love to see him do the whole 20 but its not my career its his! Thank you all for the nice thoughts and comments !!! Luv you all
