Double blessings to you, Theresa! I have identical girls who are 21 - those who responded above with younger ones don't know yet just how fast that time goes! For me, the pregnancy was the hardest part, and the best advice I can give you is to take excellent care of yourself, accept any and all help, and just enjoy the ride! I was 37, they were born on their due date, and were so big they practically came out walking. I know that not all deliveries turn out so well, just wanted to let you know that it is possible!

Anyway, feel free to PM me any time you need support or encouragement.

Thanks so much everybody! It's great to see so many stories about twins coming to term. I would absolutely love to be in that club. That would mean 4 out of 5 members of our family with September birthdays! Better get to eating, though, I've only gained 1 pound so far at 10 weeks. Twice the morning sickness and all!!

CONGRATS!

I have an internet friend who recently went to 41 weeks, 3 days with twins! And she had a completely natural, unmedicated home birth! They are her 4th and 5th children, a boy and a girl, totally healthy and normal and adorable! So, I guess it can be done!

Oh, wow, Theresa - twins! I always wished for twins - they are so close to each other - I grew up with friends who were twins and they were not identical, but they may as well have been - they thought alike, looked very much alike, acted alike, and were never apart. When they got married they lived in different towns and I wondered how that would work for them, but they are just as close today as they were when they were young. CONGRATULATIONS! I think twins are awesome. And I am so happy for you!

Thanks so much everybody!! I'll be keeping track of all you twin mommies for advice along the way :) And I'll keep everyone posted on any news! Feel free to check out my pregnancy journal (my project SG for the year). I really need to keep up with it better- I've been so tired, I can only seem to manage the necessities-and not even all of those!

Congrats! I never had twins but I had 2 "sets" of kids close together. LOL My first two were almost 15 mo apart & my next 2 were 18 mo apart. :) It's crazy but fun (I've been told that having them that close is almost worse than twins just because one is already mobile & getting into things when the other is being nursed/changed/whatever. LOL)

Anyway - I checked out the homebirth link & thought that was really cool. We had our last 3 at home because of a similarly stressful hospital experience with our first.

Update: It looks like We have a boy and a girl! The boy's pretty obvious, the girl we're not 100% sure yet, but the anatomy ultrasound is not until the 7th, and we should know for sure then. Names....my favorites so far are Aiden and Michaela. I haven't presented them for approval to DH, though yet!

Sounds like you've got a nice, "balanced" load there, Theresa! I hope your next US confirms the girl. How are you feeling? Now is the time when you've really got to start taking excellent care of yourself. Hope you've got good help lined up so you don't feel like you have to do it all!

I'm feeling pretty good most days, exhausted on others, but I try to take it easy when my body tells me to. Some days it's challenging with a 5-year-old, so I let him play on his Nintendo way more than is good for him (bad bad mommy). I do try to get out for a walk with him at least once a week.

The boy/girl combo has been confirmed! I'm definitely having one of each, and I think that's just about perfect.

Unfortunately, my little guy has an issue that may or may not affect his motor control and learning. It's called a Dandy Walker variant: basically the two halves of the cerebellum are not as connected as they should be. Most of the research I can find is on the complete malformation, not the variant, and holds bad news, but in almost all of those cases, there are other malformations in the brain, and some other parts of the body as well. So far everything else is perfect.

So what we do now is pray for a) a miraculous healing, b ) the best outcome possible and/or c) that I have the strength and wisdom to be the mom he needs me to be, regardless of the outcome. I so love both of them already, and I'm so sad that my little one may be challenged from the outset of his life, but then he may not be affected at all. Very frustrating to just not know.

My little girl is just fine, though, and I'm so glad that, no matter what, they will always have each other, and a really awesome big brother, too.

So if any of you has a little space on your prayer list, I'd love to take a spot for my kiddo. Thanks everyone!

Theresa, congrats on your b/g pair. I will certainly pray for your little guy. I'm all for option A, BTW. And I know that God is able to mend those halves together and/or give you everything you need to walk the road set before you. The verse that has been in my head a lot today seems to apply here

"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20

Thanks everyone-and I will definitely keep you updated. Since I'm having twins, many more ultrasounds are already going to happen, so we'll be able to keep an eye on everything right up until they're born.

OMG -- all I can think of is "double trouble." LOL!! But you will have double the love, too! One of my best friends has twins and she found a local MOMs group very helpful -- MOMs standing for Moms of Multiples. I think they have chapters around the country; you could probably google it and find oodles of info.

Congratulations! What an adventure!

Been awhile since I updated here, though I've been current with my pregnancy journal LO's. Things are going ok- with each ultrasound, my little guys brain development looks better and better, so I'm feeling very blessed with that. He'll have an MRI when he's born to get a better look at things, but I'm very hopeful that he'll be just fine.

Meanwhile, here I am at 31 weeks, and I'm dilated to 2 cm already. I'm off work and resting as much as I can; although sometimes it feels like what good is being at home if I can't accomplish anything! Frustrating, but I'll try to stick with mostly gestating with some naps and video games with my son thrown in.

I'm starting to feel a bit like a beached whale. With a marshmallow for a head-very swollen in the face these days. Ah well, the sacrifices we make for our babies! This too shall pass, and I will have two more wonderful wiggly babies to love. I'd say I can't wait, but I certainly hope that I have to for a while yet. It would break my heart to leave the hospital without my babies with me, and that's pretty much what would happen if they were born in the next few weeks.

Many thanks and hugs to those praying for me already, and don't stop now!!

Love- Theresa
