Thanks everyone - I so appreciate all the support I get from this wonderful place!

As of today, they are taking a bit of formula from a bottle and doing fairly well with it, Michaela more consistently than Aiden, so no need for a feeding tube so far. I'm still pumping and trying to get milk going, but not much happening there yet.

They are starting to look a tiny bit jaundiced, but have not needed to be under the lights yet. They spend most of their time sleeping, but when their eyes are open they are very curious and awake.

It's so good to see them and hold them; I was pretty afraid when I realized they were going to be born right now, knowing how little they were, but they look really wonderful, just especially tiny. I'll keep you all updated as progress occurs!

And Char, hang in there- you sure don't have much longer left for your little guy to arrive!! I'll be watching your thread!

Just to keep everyone updated:

Aiden and Michaela are now in the Critical Care Unit - a step up from the NICU. They are both still learning how to nurse, but aren;t very enthusiastic about it. They are still getting breastmilk, but are taking through a feeding tube. They lost some of their birthweight, but are back to gaining very slowly. On a simpler note, I get to put clothes on them now that they no longer have IV's, so that feels a little more like the normal mommy fun and is a welcome little change.

There is still a lot of work ahead to get them strong enough to eat and consistently gaining weight, but we'll get there. They are still very healthy for being born when they were and so very tiny. Keep the prayers coming! I'll add more pics when I get my camera back (left it at the hospital today - still somewhat scatterbrained!).

Theresa, that's wonderful news that they are now out of NICU and no longer need IVs! My continued prayers are going up for little Aiden and Michaela.

Update on the babies- Aiden starting having some tummy problems early Friday morning, so he got taken off of oral feedings and moved back to NICU. Then Michaela started shoeing some of the same signs (missing her brother, I suppose), and she went back, too. They are both back on TPN (IV nutrition) and off of anything oral for 3 days. All cultures are negative for infection, but they are getting 3 days of antibiotics just to be safe. Their x-rays yesterday showed a lot of improvement for both of them, so the plan is to check another x-ray tomorrow and if all looks good start gradually going back to oral feedings.

Poor babies have very hungry tummies, but hopefully that will make them so excited to have their milk that they will suck it all down without needing to go back to the feeding tubes. They are both sucking pretty hard on my fingers, anyway!

They have both continued to gain weight, though: Aiden (birthweight 3lb 15oz) is now 4lb 3oz, and Michaela (birthweight 3lb 5oz) is now 3lb 13oz. As soon as we can get them eating, I think they'll be close to coming home. I so miss them!!!!

As always, thank you all for your support and prayers!

I am still healing, too, but doing well. Tired of having to go back and forth to the hospital to see my babies, and growing weary of the intimate relationship I have developed with my breastpump.

My mom and dad have been here, and are a great help with the other neglected stuff around the house, so things are really going well under the circumstances.

Babies have both been home for almost 4 weeks now, so the chaos of infant twins has ensued. It's been mostly great, and they are doing very well. On Wednesday a home health nurse came to visit as part of a post NICU program, and Aiden weighed 7 lbs 2 oz and Michaela 6lbs 8 oz. I was totally amazed, they both gained almost a full pound in a week! And now that I'm done scrapping my pregnancy journal I can begin on those baby albums for the two of them. Thanks everyone for continued support! I love you all!!!!

Almost a full pound in a week! WOW:) They are good little eaters and I bet are looking downright plump now compared to when they were born. Awwwwww:)
Still thinking of you often and I'm glad things are going well. Hope you are getting a little rest now and then as well.
*hugs*
