I've known this for about 3 weeks now, but I was afraid to post anything because things have changed so many times. Dh didn't report to the school in VA this week (thank goodness, with the snowstorms!). He was bumped from the class because someone else was a higher priority to get the school finished. Since he isn't going to the school, they assigned him back to his former job! We don't have to move this summer now! He will still have to attend this school at some point in the future, and after that we will have to move, but at least it's put off another year.

At first, I was mad. I've been psyching myself up for this since August. I don't want to move, so I spent a lot of time talking myself and everyone else into accepting this. And then, right before it was supposed to happen, things change again. I was afraid they would send dh back to Saudi, but they aren't.

So, that's the update for now. Hopefully, I won't have to add another update any time soon, lol!

This is a good thing right?
I'm glad you don't have to make a big move...personally that sounds awful.
How frustating to have to keep changing things especially with little kids.

Carla, I can't imagine how difficult living from day to day on assignment changes can be! I'm glad to hear your DH isn't going back to Saudi.

Glad to hear that you DH doesn't have to return to Saudi. You are strong and can adjust no matter what, but that waiting and wondering has got to be tough.
Best Wishes

Carla, I'm right there with ya!!! It has been so darn frustrating waiting and waiting to find out when/if/where we are going to be reassigned. Not to mention the stress of the cancer/chemo/radiation/surgery as well. I feel bad for the kids even though they have adjusted well, but I know they don't want to have to move again. Keep your head up - God has His plan for us and in due time we will know it.

HUGS!

Carla, I'm just happy your family can be together again after the deployment.
And not having to move will reduce stress, and make settling in a little calmer.
I bet the office is glad to get him back, too!

Seems like its good he's not going back to Saudi and you don't have to move, but how frustrating it is not to be able to plan and have time to adapt to the changes. I remember a short notice deployment to Thailand for my XDH years ago, 48 hrs to be ready to be gone for a year. Talk about turmoil. That's part of the life though. But it sounds like you can relax and settle in for awhile longer. Thanks for letting us know what's going on.

I'm glad you're not going to have to make that move now. I know you would have made the best of it, but is sounds like this is just so much better for your family.

I'm glad that you'll be staying put for awhile Carla. It must be awful frustrating to have plans change so quickly.

I so know how you feel. We had a roller coaster of a time last year about a possible move out of the country which was a lot to deal with. It took time to prepare myself as well as family and then it didn't happen and disappointment hit but with a mixture of gladness because it wasn't something we were really ready for. It was a crazy time of "what now's" and "should we's" but looking back on it, it was a huge blessing, a learning experience, as well as a preparation for a future move across the country. Not to say that another move might pop up, but life is a roller coaster.

Sounds like that this is a good thing for your family right now. Things always happen for a reason. Enjoy your winter in NY :)

Thank you everyone! Dh started right back at the office, with no time off. We are headed on vacation this weekend, so he's taking leave then. I'm hoping to feel a little more settled after vacation. Thank you all for the support over the past year. It's meant more to me than you know!

Saudi is stinky LOL Glad he doesn't have to go back right now. It seemed like Bryan lived in Qatar for the last 2 years that we were stationed at Dyess AFB - I think of the first 2 yrs of Taliah's life he was gone just over 13 mo!

I'm happy that your family is staying together, Carla, that dh is staying put for the time being. It is frustrating not knowing from one minute to the next where you are going to be - but there must be a reason you are staying and I'm sure you will find out in the near future :)
