Guest CamsMomma
i have some charms and slides i would love to hang or thread ribbon through, but other than cutting the ribbon up and putting a peice on top of my slide or whatever, i dont know what to do. it just doesnt look real or that good. if you look closely at the tag hole in this picture you can tell where i treid to cut and paste a peice of the ribbon on it. i am using dip 9, and i know that there arent many of you here using that, but any suggestions would be most helpful
Crueltyfre/Lori
i have some charms and slides i would love to hang or thread ribbon through, but other than cutting the ribbon up and putting a peice on top of my slide or whatever, i dont know what to do. it just doesnt look real or that good. if you look closely at the tag hole in this picture you can tell where i treid to cut and paste a peice of the ribbon on it. i am using dip 9, and i know that there arent many of you here using that, but any suggestions would be most helpful
I"m not a DIP user, but do you have an eraser tool? I usually erase the part of the rivet/buckle/etc. that would normally be "behind" a ribbon to give the illusion the ribbon is on top of it. Guest kitiekat4U
i think it looks fine. the way you discribed is the same way i do mine. i don't know of any other way. maybe the end that you are putting into the tag hole could be rounded a little. see if that works. LissaD
Try this. Go to effects>transparency>transparency brush. Choose a hard edge and 100% transparency. Choose your size and use it like an eraser. If you want to add a drop shadow to the ribbon, do this before you erase, and you can erase the shadow at the same time. If you need to pinch the ribbon a little to get it to fit in the eyelet or buckle etc. go to effects>distortion>distortion brush>shrink. Make your brush bigger than the ribbon and click a few times on the ribbon until you see the effect and can pinch it down until it fits! Hope this helps! Guest sfcgijill
I did it like this- first, I "pinched" the ribbon digitally by using the warp tool, nudging in the edges a tad on both sides of the ribbon. Then I put the ribbon on the layout. Then I put the charm on it, and erased the bit of the charm loop that should be covered by the ribbon. You can see how it turned out here: http://scrapgirls.com.ipbhost.com/index.ph...cmd=si&img=9384 BTW, I use photoshop, but I'm pretty sure that the other programs would be very similar, as I didn't use anything too fancy to get the job done. I'm thinking there's probly also other easier ways to do it, but I'm new to photoshop and just kind of went with my instincts on it.
Betsy
I think it looks fine! The only thing is that the bottom of the ribbon needs to be a smidge closer to the ring, you know?

amanda
Here's a LO where I deleted part of the slide for it to look like the ribbon was over it. click here to get to the gallery post Problem is, when you do that and try to add a drop shadow it looks wierd. So, I didn't use a shadow on the slide. Don't think it really needed it anyway. Sometimes you're better off deleting or erasing the ribbon. Just my 2 cents! LissaD
Great LO Amanda! Love your Collection. That is one of the good things about DIP, once you attach a shadow you can erase it too with the eraser tool. I still have a hard time with that in PS. But I think there was just a tutorial in the newsletter about how to use a seperate layer for the layer style. I think I got part of it, as I was trying it out on a new LO, but I must be missing a step. One thing about photoshop vs. DIP, some things are automatic in DIP where PS makes you jump through hoops for the same effect. However..... what that means is you can customize things infinately more in PS. SO for advanced techniques, there is no comparison.
Guest CamsMomma
here it is, the first time i tried the "buckle bulge" thats what i am calling it anyway. i ended up earasing the middle of the slide, and then bulging and shrinking the ribbon. i didnt like the sizes of my distortion brush however. the smallest one was still very large. thanks ladies for the hints and advice! LissaD
I think you did a great job! I see that the ribbons have a little shadow, did you try a little shadow on the actual buckle? It might help adding just that little bit of depth. But I love ythe LO, the colors are so bright.
