Oh, I'm so happy for you both, Thao! How exciting ... a baby girl!
Well, as the mother of 4 daughters, I am a little biased! (he-he) Yes, there are the darling clothes and the sweet toys, but there is so much more. As a mother, it was wonderful to raise daughters. To teach them just how wonderful being a girl is and later to share with them the joys of being a woman and finally to share as they themselves become mothers. (Side note: Have you ever read Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul by John and Stasi Eldredge? It's wonderful!) In between, there are the special times of cooking together, tea parties, learning to put on make up, buying prom dresses, talking about their latest crushes, sharing heartaches and sharing dreams, watching chick flicks together and finally, becoming adult friends. You never lose your daughter. When she finally grows up and marries, she becomes even closer to you. You'll adore being the mother of a girl.
And, as for your husband -- well, he will be her super hero, her protector, her first love, the person who makes her laugh and giggle and the first man who tells her just how beautiful she is. And, no matter how many years pass or how old she is, he will always hold a special place in her heart that no one else can fill ... he will always be her daddy and he will always be her hero. He will love being the father of a lovely daughter.
Finally, the Lord has blessed me with boys (in the way of grandsons) and it is a whole new love affair. I'm learning and loving every day of this new journey. And, of course, you know that I once again have the joy of having a sweet little baby girl in my home as I babysit Adrianna 2 days a week. I am reliving it all and I have missed the baby days so much. God is so good, isn't He?
God bless you both and your sweet baby girl!
