StephRN
Hi everyone, I was working on making some word art using a step-by-step lesson. The lesson says to type in a word (using the Type tool). Then choose the Path Selection Tool (the letter A) to draw a box around a letter and then use the Free Transform to rotate the letter. This is done on each letter until all letters are rotated so they overlap a bit for a skewed look. Then I am to choose the whole word (using the Path tool) and push the "exclude overlapping shape area" button on the Path menu. Well, the Path Tool does nothing. The menu remains grayed out. When I open the dialog box from the menu it says "no tool presets are defined for this tool". Any ideas about how I can fix this? TIA. PattyBee
Convert your text layer to a "shape" layer first and then the rest should work. Do this at layer> type> convert to shape. OR even shorter just right-click on the layer in the layer's palette and choose the same option from the pop-up menu.
PattyBee
By the way, if you tick the box marked "show bounding box" in the path selection tool options... you can skip the free-transform step as well and just grab the handles of the bounding box.
