Scanners

Recommended Posts

OK. So I’ve noticed people seem to like the Epson Photo Series for scanners. I’m living in Japan and I tried to find one, but as far as I can tell Epson releases different models in the States and Japan. I have never used a scanner before in my life, so I was wanting to be able to get instructions in English. Cannon offers thee of the same models here that they do in the States. However, they cost about $125 more to buy here. And the only model that would be able to get English directions for and scan in transpierces cost $400.

I can buy the Epson Perfection 4490 Photo for about $215. My parents can ship it to me for about $50. So I’m thinking that’s the way I want to go. So here is my question. How durable of scanners? I mean it will be shipped from the warehouse to my parents house. So if they don’t open the box that its in and send it to me that way, do you think it will make half way around the world without being damaged? Or better yet does anyone know of web site that will ship scanners overseas? (I’ve looked at many and I have yet to find one.)

The packaging it is originally shipped in is usually sufficient enough to protect it from any damage during shipping. I don't think it would be much of a problem. Also you may want to consider maybe having it insured? Either way it should already be in sufficient packaging so it won't be moving around in the box it's shipped in.

I just bought a printer and it was packaged so well I thought I would never get it out of the box.LOL I think the scanner will ship well, but I agree, I would insure it. If shipped directly from the company I would think they would insure it.
