I just posted my layouts for November SGs 52. I just need to finish up December and then get the 4x6 layouts done. I should be able to get that done in a month, right?
The first tough box from DH has arrived. They had their farewell party yesterday, and the CONEXs are getting loaded next week. We're on countdown to homecoming. DH's goal is to finish out processing Ft. Hood and to be home by our wedding anniversary. I'll give the kids their countdown chains next Saturday.
One last thing. I need to brag on my oldest DS. The time of his last soccer game, which was today, was changed. They moved it from 1100 to 0900. The pack camping trip or Cub Scouts is also this weekend. He thought that he had to make a choice, and he immediately chose soccer when I found out about the change. I sat down and talked to him. I went over the schedule for the camping trip with him and told him that we could go out after the soccer game. He decided not to go on the camping trip on the grounds that I am too tired and stressed out right now and that it would be too much work for me. He also did not think that brother and sister would have much fun because there is nothing planned for them to do. I was so proud of him that I gave him one of his birthday presents early and he may get an extra present or two.

That's definitely a wonderful, thoughtful ds! Congrats on being a short-timer (for this deployment anyway) and I sure hope he makes it home in time for your anniversary!

I am so excited for you, Susan! I know how emotional this time can be for everyone. Yes, you can get your scrapping done...it will help the time go by faster to stay busy. And your ds sounds so mature. You have every right to be proud of him!!
I'll be thinking of you!

How refreshing to read this upbeat post about your dh's homecoming and your thoughtful and very kind son - you really must be so proud! That's just awesome! And, oh, do I remember those countdown chains well! In the AF, we called it "so many days and a wake-up" but it was the same thing - it is just the greatest thing in the world to be counting down! Loved your story. Thanks for sharing it here.

So glad to hear the end of the deployment is in sight!
I will hold good thoughts for your anniversary.
And that's terrific about your son. It's especially noteworthy with his dad deployed.
Hang in there!
