Help
Many of you know my oldest son is in the Army and has been deployed 4 times now. Right now he is in Afghanistan and due to be back in Colorado in a month or so. We have had his little sports car here in NY while he was away and DH and I are driving it back to Colorado to return it to him and to Welcome him home!
This will be a first for me, Because of my back and car accident I have always missed his leaving and his returns, so needless to say I'm really exicted!
We are planning on taking 3 days for the trip out , just to take our time and be alone together. DH and I haven't had any alone time in a long time so its going to be a hoot!!!
I am so excited to be there to welcome Jon home, I can't wait to them parade out and be welcomed back by family and friends! We plan to spend at least a week out there, to help him find a nice apartment and get him settled in. Shopping !!!!! And I get to spend his money too, thats going to be fun!!! At least for me it will be.
We are looking into some fun things to do out there too, so if anyone knows of some fun things please let me know! We are planning a trip to the Zoo and Garden of the Gods, we've been there once, but its so beautiful I want to go back. I'd love to go horse back riding but that will depend on how my back holds up!
I just wanted to share with all of you, my plans and to share in the happiness with all of you!! You all have been here for me with the hardships and now its time to rejoice in the good times too!!!!!! The only bad part is we have a tentative date , we won't know the actual date for awhile so we have to be flexible! Thats not so easy when all you want is to get your hands on your first born!!!!!

Great news Mary Jo. Enjoy the vacation and the homecoming.
DH and I are on countdown. He'll be home in May. I am not going to take the kids to TX to see him march out because the kids will still be in school. He also said that his homecoming will be getting off of the plane in Augusta.

You all are the best!!!! Its going to be wonderful and I can't wait to get going! Jonathan and I have been texting back and forth planning out our time together! I think he's more excited than I am!!! But, the mental picture I have of DH and I driving that "little" sports car all the way to Colorado is pretty funny! We aren't as "slim" as we once were! lol

Such wonderful news. My grandson-in-law will be coming home in about 4 weeks, but they don't have an exact date yet. I think there is a meeting on May 12th and that is when they might get an exact date. I am excited for you, and for my granddaughter as well. Brings back memories for me, as DH and I went through many deployments.
