well, things for us did not work out after all.
The little girl we were referred had a series of cardiac problems and had open heart surgery at age 6 weeks old to get a wall built between the 2 chambers of her heart. This will need replaced as she grows older. There are several other health issues as well, including respiratory difficulties that may or may not get better. Long story short, we had to decline this referral. We declined it four days after we got it, after hearing from the adoption and cardiac doctors at CHOP Philly about what this little angel's condition really is. We were not prepared for that nor do we have the means to care for her needs as time goes on. I was heart broken, and grieved for a long time. We are still waiting for a sister for Annabelle now. No word as to when we would hear again. But, on the good side, because of the new medical information from CHOP, the agency changed her classification to waiting child (instead of healthy) and there was a family waiting for a "cardiac kid" case, and got her, AND they were approved for a grant of some sort which helps them with her care. So we were a pit stop on her way to her forever home and I feel good about that.
All in God's hands...
