We went from being Number One on the list in January 2010 to getting our referral of our second daughter this week! We have the referral of a 7 month old baby girl from South Korea. She is cute! We are in love with her just from that first glimpse of her referral photo! We waited 2 years for this, and now all I want to do is get on a plane and get to South Korea as fast as I can to hug her and kiss her and tell her Mommy's here. I am full of joy at this moment, yet knowing there is much sadness in her story, I am subdued. There is sadness in my heart for her, for those who had to make such difficult decisions surrounding her care. It is with sincere reverence and respect for those people, those decisions, the story of her life, that I hold her in my heart with abounding love. I am left with two polar opposite emotions surrounding this news, sadness for her story and sheer joy that we are her forever family and will be meeting her shortly. (3-6 months from now). I want her to know that she is loved, by so many, and endeared by so many. She truly is a special gift, in many ways. I pray that God helps her transition from Korea to our home with minimal stress and that He comforts her in her grieving. I pray that God comforts her in her times of sadness when she begins to understand who she is and what her life story is. I pray for wisdom as her forever mom, guidance and peace, so that I may guide her through any problems that she might have along her life's journey. Already, I know that she is an amazing little girl, and I cannot wait to bring her home.

This is our second daugther from S Korea, we adopted Annabelle in 2007, and now welcome Addelienne (Addie for short) to our family!

Congratulations, Beth! You are such an awesome mommy and I can't wait to hear that you have Addelienne in your arms. My daughter's birthmother's name is Adeline so I have a bit of fondness for the sounds of it. I think some people may not understand how we care about those that came before us, but we do. I'm still trying to find my kids' birth families after the earthquake in Haiti.

Keep us informed of your progress and I can't wait to see the photos and layouts!

I well remember the day that the social workers brought our adopted son to use and the feeling I had when I scooped him up out of the carrier he was in - it was instant love and I was, at that very moment, his forever Mommy - and I always will be We have had many problems that so many adopted children go through but I am still his Mom and there is nothing that will ever change that. He is adored and loved and although he has made some poor choices, we love him as much or more than our own bio children - he is a special boy - almost a man now - but still that day lingers in my heart and in my mind all the time. I do think that one has to be an adoptive parent to understand our love for these children, and I hope that someway they understand that it is a very special love with which we are blessed - and it is truly a blessing! My thoughts and prayers are with you and can't wait to hear all about her once you finally hold her in your arms - the bond begins right at that moment and it never goes away. Thinking happy thoughts for you.

Update on our referral...
well, things for us did not work out after all.
The little girl we were referred had a series of cardiac problems and had open heart surgery at age 6 weeks old to get a wall built between the 2 chambers of her heart. This will need replaced as she grows older. There are several other health issues as well, including respiratory difficulties that may or may not get better. Long story short, we had to decline this referral. We declined it four days after we got it, after hearing from the adoption and cardiac doctors at CHOP Philly about what this little angel's condition really is. We were not prepared for that nor do we have the means to care for her needs as time goes on. I was heart broken, and grieved for a long time. We are still waiting for a sister for Annabelle now. No word as to when we would hear again. But, on the good side, because of the new medical information from CHOP, the agency changed her classification to waiting child (instead of healthy) and there was a family waiting for a "cardiac kid" case, and got her, AND they were approved for a grant of some sort which helps them with her care. So we were a pit stop on her way to her forever home and I feel good about that.
All in God's hands...

Beth, I'm so excited for you and I understand how you feel about your new daughter and her life changing and all that she has gone through to get to this place. Our niece was born in China and we had those same thoughts as we waited for her to join our family 6 1/2 years ago. Congratulations on your new little daughter and know that God has a reason she's becoming a part of your family, and I can't wait to see your new layouts with her included in your family photos.

Beth, you showed a mother's true love for this special little angel by letting her get to the forever family who can meet her needs. That is true love and knowing you, I can imagine how heartbroken you are. But your next daughter is out there somewhere and I pray that you and she meet soon. And will also keep this special little one in my prayers as well. Blessings on all of you.
