I can't believe that I am barely finding out about digiscrapping! It's been around for how many years now?

While I would love to start digiscrapping right now, I don't have the time. I did however buy some digiscrap clipart with the hopes that I could use it as standard clipart for making stationary and making a cover for my homeschooling organization binder. Is this possible to do? Can I use this clipart that I bought with Word? Or do I need some special software to be able to use it? So far I haven't been able to copy and paste the pics to where I want them.

Hi Cynthia! Welcome to ScrapGirls!

You can use MS Word to create your pages. I think the issue you're having with placing your clip art where you want it has to do with the "layout" option. When you click on your clip art, a menu should come up for you to do various things to your clip art. You'll want to change the Layout to "In front of text." and then you'll find you're able to move things around more freely. You'll probably want to upgrade to photo editing software as you become more advanced, but you can definitely use Word to crank out some lovely pages!

Welcome to Scrap Girls, Cindy - I have used, in the past, Word to do a few things with clip art added but don't know much about scrapping a page in it - think that Ashleigh's advice is your best bet.

Hi and welcome Cynthia. I'm glad that Ashleigh was able to give you some specific information for using Word. I know it can be done but I really don't know that much about using Word myself to be able to help.

I tried opening up the clipart and seeing if I could copy and paste onto my word page and couldn't. I also right clicked on the clipart image and the only option that comes up is delete. Could it be that the art is not compatible with the program? I am able to view my art, I was able to save it to the computer but haven't been able to do anything with it. I bought it from digiscrapkits.com

Hi Cynthia! Welcome to SGs! Glad you finally found us! If and when you decide to invest in some software, Adobe Photoshop Elements offers a 30-day trial at their website so you can always test the waters before diving in. :welcome2:

Cynthia, welcome! As someone who tried to do a user guide in Word, I learned that it's very hard to control image layout, although it can be done. Right-click the image and select Format Picture.

Kimmy's suggestion to download the Photoshop Elements 30 day trial is a great one. If you're not ready to do that, but have Microsoft Publisher as part of your Office suite, you will find it more gives more control of image locations and text flow than Word.

ScrapGirls has a gorgeous free collection biggie; download Refresh here. I love this collection!

In any case, have fun, and welcome aboard!

Welcome to you both!
Hallmark Scrapbook Studio is a proprietary program, and it uses proprietary files. Theoretically you should be able to insert jpgs, as they are the same format as the pictures you would import, but your ability to play with them would be quite limited.
The other challenge with the Hallmark program is the files it creates are proprietary, which limits your ability to share and print them.
