I really was intrigued by Marnie's freebie today, and spent a few minutes playing around with it. I selected each "color" of the template and cut & pasted them as separate layers. Then I played with clipping papers from various kits to each layer, and with the blending modes. It was so much fun. Here's what I created from her template and TCS Celebrate America:

I'd love to see what you can do with this great template!--I hope to see some more samples.

Beautiful Barbara! I played and played and played with that one for about an hour yesterday, but didn't save, just played. The nice thing about this one is you can used so many color combos with it. You'll be seeing me use it for all seasons and many more holidays. What a great addition to the stash this one is. All the freebies are great, but once in a while a real stand out comes along and this one is in this category.

Love it Barbara and I did one too, with two different backgrounds. One has a paper background and the other has a photo background, but both have the squares painted the same. It's amazing the difference a dark photo or floral paper make as the background! You've seen one, but I'll post bother here. :-)

I actually didn't have a layout in mind for this yet, and we had big thunderstorms and power failures last night, so I'll have to figure out some inspiration for a layout. I was just playing with the template.

Hmm, this may be a bad habit to admit--I often have just as much fun playing with my supplies as creating anything specific with them. At least I learn a lot!

lol It's all good - I didn't mean to put the pressure on. It's great that you have fun with the supplies and I expect that it can be very inspiring, as well as educational. If you do decide to make a layout with it, perhaps you can post it here or in the 'Share the Love' forum. Have a great day and fun playing with your templates. :-)

I'm having fun with family for the holidays & on a really weak/slow internet connection. I haven't been able to view the images of what you guys are making, but look forward to seeing them when I check back in a few days.

What a clever idea for a thread!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with Sara. :-)

Marnie - have a great holiday! I like Barb's thread too and found the template to be a lot of fun to play with. I was amazed at how much difference there was by changing the background paper, with the squares the same colours. :-)
