I am new to digital scrapbooking. I used to paper scrapbook but really want to switch to digital. I am using photoshop elements. I am trying to make an album of my son's 2nd birthday party (it was a huge party - 135 people !). I have over 250 photos and am trying to limit the number of pictures. However I will still end up with a lot. I am creating 12x12 pages but can't seem to decide how many pictures to put on each page. I guess it is a personal design preference but I was wondering what other people did when they have so many photos to scrapbook.

Thanks.

Lisa

i think different people have different preferences and that it is as you say an individual choice. the important thing is to have fun. maybe u could do an album specifically for this and use coordinating papers/colours to link pages or maybe just use the theme. the important thing is to have fun and enjoy creating someithing that will be around for years to come and provide much pleasure im sure to all those who view whether on here or family and friends.

a very big warm :welcome2: to scrapgirls and if you ever need help, have a look at the buddy board and see if there is a volunteer who uses the same programme and email or send personal message and they will gladly help you out. i personally use photoshop element s 3 and am willing to help out at any time. i dont promise to be able to answwer your queries personally but if i cant i do promise to find you someone who can .

once again a very big warm welcome to scrapgirls.

I recommend going to the boutique and looking at the multiple photo templates. There are so many of them and they really allow you to put alot of photos on a page. There is no reason not to use all your photos (or at least alot of them) in that album. A birthday like that can be pretty special, especially if there were alot of guests!

I was going to suggest the same thing. In the boutique there are so many layout templates that will make it easy to include all those photos in your album. That section of the boutique can be found here.

And a big WELCOME to Scrap Girls! :)

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I love the multiple photo template idea. However I have a question on using them. I saw that some of them came with instructions so maybe it will tell me but I'll ask anyway. When you crop and resize in Photoshop Elements 4.0 using the crop tool to make the photo to fit the template ( I am guessing this is how you would do it ), how do you crop and resize without distorting the image ? I have tried using filmstrips before for multiple photos. I would make a layer with a filmstrip and then a layer with the photos and send the photo layer behind the filmstrip. However when I cropped and resized the photo to fit in the "hole" in the filmstrip, the photo got distorted. I hope what I am describing makes sense. If anyone has any suggestions on that I would appreciate it.

Thanks again. I'm so glad I found Scrap Girls ! :2468who-do-we-appreciate:

When you resize a photo, ALWAYS hold down the shift key while dragging a corner. This will ensure you keep your proportions. OR, if you want to crop to a size that you know you want, i.e. 3x3, then click on the crop tool. In the tool bar at the top, enter the dimentions in the boxes for x and y (3 in and 3 in) and set your resolution to at least 300. Now any crop you make on that photo will come out to 3" x 3" and 300 dpi.

HTH!
