Answer this question by replying to this post: What is your favorite summer-time activity? 2. Entries must be posted before Midnight, Monday, July 19, 2010. 3. One entry per person. Lyssa Posted July 18, 2010 Share Posted July 18, 2010 Since summer is so hot and the pollen is so terrible where I live, I love to watch it rain. It get cooler and cleans the air, but my favorite part is seeing the bright green leaves turned over waiting for the rain with the dark grey clouds in the background while the mist from the storms and steam hover over the mountains. E_Jeanne Posted July 18, 2010 Share Posted July 18, 2010 When I was a little girl, in the days before air conditioning, after a very hot summer day, my mom would give me and my little brothers a bath, put on our plisse pajamas with the snaps around the waist and pile us into the car. The sun had set but it wasn't yet dark. The air was finally cooling down. All the car windows were down and the rushing air smelled of flowers and grass. With the lull of the car ride and the cooler air it wasn't long before we fell asleep. Carried into the house and into bed by my father, we slept till morning. My favorite activity of summer... riding in the car, windows down, hair blowing, inhaling the smells of summer and loving the time of day called the "gloaming". Something about plucking those beautiful, fat little things (that cost other people so much to buy!)is just so satisfying and fun!. This summer I have only been home half of them... I started my summer going to visit my family. Home for a week then went on a cruise. My SIL and her family drive out from New York and we all go to the park together. The kids go on all the slides, while we sit by the wave pool, listening to the music and taking a dip when we want. Later on, we have fresh berries and honey with local vanilla ice cream sitting out on the patio in the warm summer evening air. Ah, perfection! I LOVE the cool azure blue colors of water and sparking golds of the sun. Perfect for remembering warm summer days when the winter winds howl outside!!!
