Backing Up Questions Mozy and DVD's

Missed the Backup Party Chat due to a ill little one. Have a few questions.

So I finally signed up for Mozy. Something I have been wanting to do forever!!! The initial backup says it will take about 8 days to complete. I know I have to keep my laptop open and awake and EHD plugged in and on, but I was wondering if I could still use my products from the EHD and work on layouts.

Another question I have is about making DVD backups. What is the easiest way to do this on my Mac? Is it necessary if I have Mozy, Time Machine and an EHD? I want to make sure I am very safe should anything happen.

I don't know about Mac's but check out Acronis and see if they make a Mac Version. Its wonderful to use to back up your main computer onto a secondary hard drive whether it be an EHD or another Internal HD.
