How I Learned To Fit Photos In Frames

Recommended Posts

It may not be the best way to do it, but it's how I do. :) The steps have photos which are LINKED below them (As they're screenshots and big and I didn't feel like stretching the forum..) Let me know if something doesn't make sense, I usually don't write tutorials, but a friend asked for this.

I also used Photoshop 6.0 (I know.. Old version, but it's my favorite).

Making a photo fit in a frame

Select your frame:

1.) I'm using the black frame from Scrapgirls Refresh Set

(Step1)

2.) Take your magic wand tool and click inside of your frame. See the ants dancing around inside my frame? It means there's no gaps or open spaces. If there are any, use your brush tool and the color of your frame to fill in the lines. (You'll have to deselect the wand to do so. ctrl + d in windows will do this).

(step2)

3a.) No gaps now right? Good! Keeping the inside of your frame selected, create a new layer. label this: "Frame inside."

(step3a)

3b.) Floodfill (paintbucket tool) with whatever color of your choice. & Deselect the frame now (Ctrl + d in windows)

(Step3b)

4.)Pick your photo to fill your frame. I'm using one of my friend and her son.

Resize it to CLOSE to the frame size, it's okay if it covers your frame, don't panic yet! Paste it OVER your 'frame inside' layer.

(step4)

5. Now, I know you don't want to leave your photo this way. Remember our flood layer? Take your mouse, put it between the two layers. (See the picture to see where the mouse should be)

(Step5)

6) While your mouse is between the two layers, hit alt. This will fit the photo into your flood layer. You result should look like this:

(step 6)

Now, add your embellishments, finish up your layout and have fun! Here's what I did with mine!
